Dawn | 3250 comments Thanks for the Kindle info. I got it. I am also reading one of your (Jonetta) suggestions from the blog, Sweet Lullaby. Just passing time until Calculated comes out.

Get your tissues out...:)

message 53: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments For Sweet Lullaby? Oh darn please don't tell me this is going to piss me off in the end :(

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 14929 comments Mod
Oh, no! You're going to love the ending.

message 55: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Oh good! That scared me for a minute lol

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 14929 comments Mod
It's the journey to the end where you'll need the tissues:)

I don't read romances with unhappy endings. I will for other genres (mystery, contemporary fiction) but I'm guaranteed my HEA in romance and the story better deliver!

Vera M. | 446 comments Has anyone read Marcia muller's Sharon McCone series. I had somebody recommend this one to me recently. I will probably check it out soon just wondering if anyone else has any feedback on this series?

message 58: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Okay I am at the tissue stage and only holding on because you said it will be fine.

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 1038 comments Oh, it's a Lorraine Heath book? I totally bawled through another one of hers... the blue one... oh, no, it was the yellow one: Texas Glory. Okay, I didn't BAWL, but I cried like 3x.

message 61: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 14929 comments Mod
I think I cried through all three of the books in that trilogy.

message 62: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Yup, constricted heart for a while ... But I did lo e the ending. Thanks for the referral.

message 64: by Mary (new)

Mary | 208 comments I have a question! Does any of you know a site that I could download free e-books? Right now some of the In Death books are missing from my collection, but it would be good if I could download and others for free... I recently got a tablet and read most In Death books in pdf,but my parents say that my hobby is much too expensive and I should definitely find a solution... So if you know any site it would be great if you let me know! Thanks! :)

message 65: by Vera (new)

Vera M. | 446 comments There is a site called I onread.com that will sometimes have some books to read right from the site. I usually try to check out ebooks and audiobooks through my local library using the overdrive.com library borrowing system. It has an app for iPads and tablets that will link you to your local library and their selection of ebooks and audiobooks that you can borrow right to your device. Either in the overdrive app or through amazon for kindle devices/apps.

message 66: by Silver (new)

Silver | 37 comments Vera, is right use your local library via the overdrive app they have a lot of good books and audiobooks to borrow for free.

Mine happens to carry most of the series in eBook format, all released before 2012.

message 68: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments I need to get a new library card. I haven't had one in about 20 years.

message 69: by Sara (new)

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 1038 comments YES you do! Libraries ROCK! I just inherited my mom's old Kindle (she got a fancy new one), and I'm already loving the ebooks I can check out! Woo!

Dawn, aside from this series, at least half of the books I read are downloaded from my library. Even the selection of printed books is done online. I request it from the Central library and I get a voice message when it's ready for pickup at my local branch. Same with DVDs. I was able to catch up on the TV show Downton Abbey by renting the first two seasons from the library, again, requesting them online. It's not your library system of old!

message 72: by Vera (new)

Vera M. | 446 comments Yes the library is great and they have a great online system now! I also lucked out that the library closest to me in this area has the second hand bookstore. All the books are $1 to $4 majority being the $1 or $2. Though lately I have to go to a different branch to stop myself from coming home with a pile of bought books since we are trying to get organized to sell our house! Lol

message 73: by Mary (new)

Mary | 208 comments Well, girls thank you all! However using my local library for the In Death series is out of the question beause not only they don't have it, but also here, in Greece, libraries work a little bit different than there. They don't have e-books or audio books and most of them don't even have a webpage.....
Also, Vera I can't access this site you told me, onread.com.

Mary, are all of your books in English? Have you ever heard of paperback swap?

message 75: by Mary (new)

Mary | 208 comments No not all of my books are in English. I have also many Greek and some German... But my In Death books are only in English, yes. I've heard of it, but I don't know anyone in my town or country who actually does it. I've never tried it before...

message 76: by Sara (new)

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 1038 comments Oh, Greece. Yes, that's definitely different.

message 77: by Mary (new)

Mary | 208 comments Yes, Sara, it is. It would be so much easier for me to have access to books I want if our library system was like yours... :(

message 78: by Vera (new)

Vera M. | 446 comments awww :( ... I dont know what you'd have access to in greece. You may beable to search engine and see if theres some book swaps or discount stores to find the books at some nice prices!

message 79: by Mary (new)

Mary | 208 comments Yeah probably. I will look into it...

message 80: by Rosemary (new)

Rosemary (rsolvang) February 14, 2013

Hey LeiCa and Pinky1962 and Vera and Judy and Chelsealuv ... here is where we can chatter about Texas BBQ (which isn't my favorite; sorry-ish? (smile)) and living in the sticks (which I sort of do) and LeiCa's interesting idea of Parenthood In Death.

I do like this premise, it brings together so many threads AND it offers the potential for some humorous interpersonal story lines, all happening in the house.

A story with wee ones would trigger Peabody's soft heart, her ease with children and ... dare I say it, the idea of one of her own?

And let's not leave out Charlotte and Nadine; two more strong women with totally different ways of entering the world and then ... there is the other wee one, already skirting the edges ... a new playmate?

(trying not to write any "spoilers" here as I haven't yet figured out the trick folks use to post a spoiler and have it hidden).

Thanks for your enthusiasm for adding a premise in the "Out of In Death" string.
r.

message 81: by Vera (new)

Vera M. | 446 comments Yay BBQ... I think Carolina BBQ might be my favorite though! Lol

The sticks are nice, relaxing... To me the city is so fast paced, fun to visit but I don't think I'd be cut out for NYC like eve Dallas!!

It's fun to read the books where Eve has to interact with and think about children! They always have scenes that make me giggle

message 82: by Pinky1969 (new)

Pinky1969 | 12 comments Rosemary, LeiCa, Vera, Judy and Chelsaaluv, Gang I agree that Parenthood in Death is a great premise and would love to read this story line. I remember that I read some Mrs. Roberts aka J.D. Robb stated that if she ever made Eve with Child that would be the end of the series, but she never stated what she would do if Eve was willed or had to keep a promise to someone that involved a child or children. I really think that LeiCa should email her premise to Mrs. Roberts aka J.D. Robb.

message 83: by Pinky1969 (new)

Pinky1969 | 12 comments And really Somerset would be the one minding the children while in actuality training Eve and Roarke in how to handle a child or children when they have their own child/children.

Ooo bbq! I'm making pulled pork ala Crockpot today. Has anyone else noticed food cravings when reading In Death? I swear everytime I read about Dallas eating a burger or hot bubbling pizza, I get so tempted!

Laugh right out loud ...
Before I began this series, I had given up eathing pizza altogether.
SINCE beginning it, I have eaten pizza a few times a year. If she ever starts eating Donuts I'm going to complain because directly to the author ... at least burgers and pizza are FOOD that the body can use. Donuts horrible for us in a whole list of ways.
.
you did make me smile, there, Cassandra. :)

Stana Katic is the closest I've seen to my picture of Dallas. I don't know about the perfect Roarke - Maybe Matthew Bomer.

message 88: by Chelsealuv (new)

Chelsealuv Krigbaum I think when finding a good Dallas you really need to find someone with her chin.. Roarke adores it.

I like Stana Katic, too... LOVE Castle, although I'm a few episodes behind! As for Roarke? I'm going to go drool over David Gandy for a few minutes. Please excuse me...

message 90: by [deleted user] (new)

Vera, I don't know why either! Maybe Pizza is better in NY?

message 91: by [deleted user] (new)

Rosemary, oh you reminded me of the chocolate too! But at least dark is somewhat good for us?

message 92: by Vera (new)

Vera M. | 446 comments Cassandra, according to my husband pizza is totally better in NYC lol

message 93: by Rosemary (new)

Rosemary (rsolvang) Cassandra wrote: "Rosemary, oh you reminded me of the chocolate too! But at least dark is somewhat good for us?"

Cassandra, yes, 72% coco or higher IS good for us, which I'm highly happy about :)
Those "Chocolate Sticks" which Eve gets at the glide-a-carts sound so disgusting that her eating chocolate never triggers a craving.

message 94: by Vera (new)

Vera M. | 446 comments When she looks for her hidden chocolate in her office it does!! Lol

message 95: by [deleted user] (new)

And the wine that Roarke will have opened and set side for them.

Rosemary (rsolvang) Vera wrote: "When she looks for her hidden chocolate in her office it does!! Lol"

Vera, ah yes. The chocolate stash, that would be the GOOD stuff.

Rosemary (rsolvang) Roarke's house...
Does anyone else ever wonder how their own imagination/vision of the layout of Roarke's house matches up with what other imagine?
just curious.
