Ecstasy Unveiled - Larissa Ione

In the last book Passion Unleashed we first found out that the 3 gorgeous Sem brother have another brother called Lore. Ecstasy Unveiled is Lore's story.
Lore has a deadly touch which has kept him isolated from any tender touch. He's a bound assassin and has now been tasked with killing someone close to his newly found brothers.
This new target has a plethora of protection, one of which will kick Lore's ass and capture his interest.

I love the way Larissa Ione writes, not sure what it is, but her men all sound delicious (Wraith is still my favourite) and her women are kick ass. I loved this new installment. Great story and fab new characters.
Can't wait to read Sin Undone. Might even read the first 3 again too :o)

Unearthly (Unearthly, #1) by Cynthia Hand

I know it's a YA, but I really don't feel like going through page after page of angel books in search of the "perfect" one. Besides, it's good for me to go out of my comfort zone. Right?

Sin's Story. Sin is Lore's twin, she shouldn't exist, there are no female Sems. Sin hasn't had a good life, everybody she has ever cared for has left her. She doesn't ever get involved and now isn't the time to form bonds with her new found siblings or get involved with Con and his hotness. She's now in charge of the assassins and needs all her wits to stay at the top.

Loved this story, Sin isn't difficult to love, she's got a hard outer shell which needs some careful handling and she fights tooth and nail not to belong to/be owned by anyone. The boys are back and we're getting to know a couple of hotties better.....yummy Con. There is an angel in there too, but you need to dig to find him. There's angst, pestilence and plenty of naughtiness...hey they are sex demon's after all.
I want more :o)

Lis | 4029 comments Here's my quick little pro-Bingo rant... I like Bingo because it forces me to dig thru the TBR mountain and find the books that I forget about. I'm really enjoying A Touch of Crimson and it's been on my shelf since last fall, SHAME on me. Not nearly done, but right now it's sitting at 4*s+ unless the plot goes really bad. So I was checking out the writer since I liked her style and another DUH moment on my part, Sylvia Day wrote Bared to You which is kind of a 50 shades knock off, but a little better. And I read that a few months ago too. Rant over...

Sue (knitwitsl) | 96 comments Sorry to hear you were not feeling well Caroline. I hate feeling like I can't get up and do my normal routine. The only thing worse than that, is not being able to read as long as I'm stuck in bed! You've posted two reviews since I was last on here a couple of days ago. That's great :-)

I was looking at your reviews and checking my shelf, and for some reason I read #1, #2, #3 and #4.5 in the series. I skipped #4! I'm going to have to put that one and "Sin Undone" on my library list right now. Thanks for the reviews and push!

Oh, and I'm about 20% done with my angel book. I should get a lot of reading done tonight!

My angel book is good but I'm not in the mood for Dark UF, so I'm going to change to a classic Nalini Singh re-read, that I know I'll zip through.

So I've changed my book to Archangel's Consort (Guild Hunter, #3) by Nalini Singh

To-Be-Continued? Yes, definitely

Review: This is a darker PNR series with the leader of the highest order of angels, Adrian and his sentinels keeping watch over the "fallen" angels, now vampires. The sentinels have used the lycans as their guards but some of these shifters are looking for an alpha to lead them out of this servitude. Adrian also feels hypocritical since his job was to rip the wings off of the watcher angels when they did the forbidden, and mated with humans. But has been in love with a mortal over the centuries and his punishment is finding her century after century as her soul is reincarnated and he finds and loses his love again and again. This time Shadoe is reborn in Lindsey, but this version has some extra gifts and already a vampire hunter so she comes on the scene when someone is killing sentinels and the vampires are becoming infected with disease. They are thrown into an investigation to determine the source of all the chaos before the fallen leader Syre discovers that his daughter Shadoe has been reincarnated again in Lindsey and finally changes her into a vampire.

This was an action filled read and had a great build up from the beginning and I really did like this book. It had all my favorite elements with a darker storyline and strong H/h characters.

Sandra | 25822 comments Archangel's Consort (Guild Hunter, #3) by Nalini Singh
Angels Shelf
16/8/12 ★★★★

It was a pleasure to have the chance to re-read this one, I'd forgotten a lot of the stuff that happens :)

This is #3 in the Guild Hunter series.

Raphael, Archangel of New York and Elena Deveraux, vampire hunter & newly made Angel have finally returned to NY. Elena has learnt how to fly and is gaining strength but is still very vulnerable.

Strange happenings happen with vampires suddenly running amok, and the Guild stretched to the limit to bring them to heel. The weather has gone berserk, and earthquakes and tsunamis are peppering the planet. Raphael is also battling rage which is most unlike him. What could be causing it?

I'm not saying as it would be too spoilerish.

Now, my impressions of the book are generally positive. We see a domestic way-of-life which is refreshing, not running from action scene to action scene, but still conveying growth, and the mystery of what is happening. Not to mention Elena's father and his new family.

Love this series.

Book: Angels of Darkness
Shelf: Angels
Date Finished: 8/15/12
Rating: 4/5

Review:
This book contained four short stories, two by authors I really enjoy reading. The short story, "Angel's Wolf" is by Nalini Singh. It contains characters from her Guild Hunter series that I already enjoy. Being a short story it was to the point, but I enjoyed it.

The second story, "Alphas: Origins" is written by Ilona Andrews. It had references to angels, but in a book about dark angels I guess I expected a little more. She did build quite a different reality in such a short time which they are good at, but I really couldn't get into this story as much as I wanted to.

The third story, "Nocturne" is written by Sharon Shinn. This story had an interesting perspective on what it would be like for angles (arrogant, self absorbed) to live among people.

The last book, "Ascension" is written by Meljean Brook. This one had lower angels as Guardians who watched over society and fought demons. I liked the premise of the story and would have liked it if this one was a full story on it's own! I'm going to have to look up this writer and see what else she has done!

Sue-

message 468: by Sue (new)

Sue (knitwitsl) | 96 comments I did like the Guardian story. I'm hoping I like it as much in a full length book because I just put it on hold at my library! But I like when an author creates something different (at least from what I've read) and brings me into that world. So here's hoping!! Let me know if you decide to read the first book. I'd be interested to hear your review of it!

Lis | 4029 comments I need to take a trip to 1/2 price books and see if I can fll in the gaps of my Guardian series. I have a few from the great Borders hoarding frenzy but not the 1st one of course.

message 470: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25822 comments I must admit I've been collecting the Guardian series cause Judithe said she liked it, but I haven't started it yet. I'm now only missing 2 of the novellas, so I suppose I should just start. LOL.

As to Angels of Darkness, I've only read the Nalini one an maybe Ilona's one.

Lis | 4029 comments I went and grabbed A Hunger So Wild (Renegade Angels, #2) by Sylvia Day today since I liked my angel read this week. Hopefully it will fit the next bingo shelf, so I'm holding off til Sat. I like the cover. A little "cover lust" never hurts.

Sandra you might like this series it's kind of like a PNR version of Singh's angel series but still different. Not a perfect storyline, it was a little flawed but not badly.

Maybe after bingo we should plan a series buddy read and get thru them?

message 473: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25822 comments Actually those Renegade Angels do sound good, another series to be added *sigh*, thanks very much. LOL

I'm too fickle for buddy reads usually, if I plan too far ahead it never works. I have trouble with the one a month theory unless I do it subconsciously. ROFL. Definately a mood reader. But we can set up a Buddy Read and see who else wants to read them :)

message 474: by Lis (last edited Aug 16, 2012 06:25PM) (new)

Lis | 4029 comments If there is no bingo or new release temptation then it's easier to read thru. One a month is a stretch, I like continuing on. When I get interrupted I have a hard time getting back at them. I do like her Steampunk series, so hopefully this one's good.

message 475: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25822 comments Ah, but I'm involved with about 20 challenges at any one time, some with 20-40 books, some with just 2 or 3.

Before GR I always tried to read through. One of the reasons I still collect all available books. If I find an author I like I try and get everything they've ever written. It's a sickness. LOL.

And I've got the steampunks as well :)

Lis | 4029 comments Reading a few fillers before the next shelf and discovered Mina Wentworth and the Invisible City (Iron Seas, #1.5) by Meljean Brook novella from the Iron Seas series, it was pretty good if you liked Brooks's Steampunk world.

I can't believe I actually liked this book.  I'm not a big fan of YA, but decided to read one because I didn't feel like going through the pages upon pages of angel books.  I know, pretty lame on my part.

Clara is a teenage girl that has recently found out she is part angel. With being an angel, she has to fulfill her "purpose." Her purpose leads her and her family to Jackson Hole, WY where she meets Christian and Tucker. Yes, there is a love triangle of sorts and Clara must figure out whether to follow her heart or that of her purpose.

The author does a good job writing, building the characters. Clara seems to fall in love fast, which is kind of annoying. It was a nice break from all the sex, sex, sex you find in a lot of books nowadays.  While I have enjoyed the series thus far, I probably won't be reading many YA books in the future.  I have already read the next book in the series and plan on reading book #3 when it comes out next year.

Buddy reads are where we pick the same book and start reading at the same time and report in as you go with your thoughts and hiding your spoilers just I case you're further ahead.

Here's where you can find the ones running now or upcoming. http://www.goodreads.com/topic/group_...

If you don't see one you like, just put a book out there and see if anyone cares to join you.
