I really enjoyed this book and the way it wove familiar sci-fi and fantasy elements into a unique story. As someone who loves conflicted protagonists and unreliable histories, I found Hadrian memoir-style narration perfectly tailored to my tastes. I read the revised Diamond Edition, so I can’t compare it to the original, but I felt it was really well written, especially for a debut novel. Knowing this is considered Ruocchio’s “weakest� work only heightens my excitement for the Sun Eater series as a whole. ]]>
