Devoured this book. Picked it up literally just for the cover.. and was not disappointed.

He rests his chin on my thigh, a glazed-over look in his half-lidded eyes. “How am I not supposed to fall in love with you now?�

Starts off with a bang, where you immediately get some background trauma on the MMC, and then fast forward to the FMC being is some hot water and needing some protection. Insert Laney who takes no shit from anyone and is quick with the snarky remarks and she meets the oldest of the Foxx brothers. I was right away intrigued by this family.. who are they, why does it seem sketchy but also.. why is a cop bringing our FMC to them if they are "bad"? I was hooked. Then we meet Grant.... your local grumpy hottie. He right away has a thing for Laney and HATES it. Things heat up real fast after that. The chemistry between these two is just so good.

You think this is going to be a small town mystery romance but things move quickly. The spice is spicing in this book. The mouth on Grant... OMG. Found my new favorite microtropes in this - one having to do with alcohol *wiggles eyebrows* and he paints her nails (OMG WHAAT SWOONING). The plot has you wondering what is going on and where will this lead to? And every character introduced you just fall for. Lincoln, the girls, Hadley and OMG Ace. The story clearly is building up through each book. Its not a standalone per say, and each book is clearly building on the next.
