I ended up finishing All Systems Red all in one night! It was such a nice short and quick read. I honestly did find some things confusing because there was not a lot of explanation and worldbuilding (to be expected with the length). But I know this is meant to be more about the character of Murderbot and the deeper introspective aspects which were my favorite parts. For an intro to this series, it was ok, and I have a feeling much more will be explored in the next installments!

I thought this was a great ending to the Rain Wild Chronicles! Overall, this series may be my least favorite in RotE just because the other books have been SO good, but this book and the previous one really stood out! The character work was good, but it didn’t wow me like I wanted it to, especially for the new characters - I much preferred the chapters where we were back with some of the Liveship characters. I think where this one excelled though was with all of the lore reveals and worldbuilding we were getting (and of course the dragons!!). Very excited to see how all this is going to tie together in Fitz & the Fool!

Although this one started off a bit slow, it had the same action-packed and engaging pace as The Lies of Locke Lamora. I loved that we got to explore more of this world, and there were so many great new characters introduced. I'm not a big seafaring-fantasy person, but I loved it in this one. And just like the first, the plot had me second-guessing everything pretty much on every page - literally had no idea what was gonna happen next!

I enjoyed this one! Though the plot didn't feel as high stakes as the previous two, the overarching plot that has been going on over the series has been really intriguing. Lynch's writing is so engaging and really sucks you in. There were some big reveals, and I feel like even more questions now left unanswered at the end. I did really like the background chapters that developed Locke's and Sabetha's relationship - I feel like that was something building up across the past two books and we finally got it. Hoping we hear news of book 4 one day soon!

I loved this. This was a story within a story within a story and so layered and beautiful (and beautifully written too). It was so unique and I have nothing to compare it too (though it did kind of remind me of a Studio Ghibli film). I'd been wanting to read this one for so long and so glad I decided to start off 2025 with it!
