“Give me the sweet results of faith, in my secret character, and in my public life.
Cast cords of love around my heart, then hold me and never let me go.
May the saviors wounds sway me more than the scepter of princes.
Let me love thee in a love that covers and swallows up all, that I may not violate my chaste union with the beloved;
There is much unconquered territory in my nature, scourge out the buyers and sellers of my souls temple, and give me in return pure desires and longings after perfect holiness. -a ministers praises

I officially “finished this treasure trove of the prayers of the puritans but this is one of those books that you will never actually be done reading. I’ve been reading this book here and there for two years but a couple months ago I decided to just read through it one by one even if the prayer didn’t “apply to me that day…well there was no need for my fear of the prayer not applying because conviction of sin and the love of the savior are the ever present themes in every line of this sweet book and they never grow old or fail to encourage and convict.

It’s been a season of heavy readings for school and exhausting days but I have looked forward to ending each day with this book in hand and drifting off to sleep in peace with its words ringing in my mind.

If you’ve never read through all of these prayers, you are missing out and I encourage you to take it up again and read through it one by one so you don’t miss a single gem! ]]>

Hannah's Children by Catherine Pakaluk
"It’s hard to explain in words the way this book has impacted me. God has used it to help me see in a greater light the blessing that children are. Yes, as Christians we believe that they are a blessing from God but subconsciously we could be holding reservations or believe LIES from the toxic and feminist propaganda we have grown up with, which have led us to the anxious, depressed, childless, lonely, and godless society we live in okay I digress. Although the book looks at women with big families, it has been so encouraging for me (a mom of 2). I feel more secure and excited about the call that God has given me as a mom. I’m no longer wishing for a specific number but simply open to whatever God has for us as a family with regards to children.
Some things (lies) that I’m glad she addressed/debunked were: overpopulation, kids being expensive, people are bad for this world, “losing yourself in motherhood, kids make marriage harder and causes divorce, and others I already can’t remember haha
There were many funny and wonderful stories but the ones I found the most moving were those showing how babies can help people heal emotionally, overcome hardships, tragedy, or bring families together, almost as if they were therapeutic. God’s design is truly beautiful, mysterious, and wonderful.

I RECOMMEND!

Listened on Spotify. Narration was great!"

The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment by Jeremiah Burroughs
"Love, love, love. This book and I went through SO much change in the 6 months I slowly read it.

I look back at all of it and see how contentment has been a consistent theme that God has used to teach me that His timing alone is good, makes sense, and brings true glory to Him and joy for me.

Makes me giddy to think of all that lies ahead in life! I can’t wait to reread this, out of gentle reminder or deep need, and never stop learning of my God being the source of all contentment in this life. "

“Fear HIM ye saints and then ye shall have nothing left to fear. Charles H. Spurgeon

I hope someday you add this to your library that you may know the joy of being guided by the Prince of Preachers himself through “the anatomy of the soul.

It is not possible to write a review worthy of this book. This commentary has been my companion this year as I lead a Bible study through the psalms at school and I recommend it to anyone beginning their own journey through the psalms, leading a Bible study, or preaching through them. These three volumes have brought sheer delight to my heart as I read well beloved psalms with new eyes, understanding to my mind as I was guided to see the structure and pattern of psalms that were more challenging, and refreshment for my soul in the most unexpected passages. ]]>
