So far I am just trying to burn through all the pages. I am so bored and the journey has hardy started. What is the point of Tom Bombadil and Lady Goldberry?
Many readers of the Lord of the Rings consider Tom's presence in the first book to be an unnecessary intrusion into the narrative, which could be omitted without loss. Tolkien was aware of their feelings, and in part their judgment was correct. As To See Nader’s answer.

This review is for the audiobook.

Well, after only a day I have finished this story and I loved it.

It's fun, it's quirky, it didn't go anywhere near where I had expected it to and I learned about a whole new type of mythical being, which I really love. If only I had a poltergeist with a love of cleaning too, it would be most welcome to stay.

The romance between the two main characters was sweet and they make a lovely couple, but I'm afraid I got rather more wrapped up in the ghostly plotline than their budding relationship this time around. But they are a lot of fun to spend time with. Having a parter who is also a paranormal investigator though: that would be fun, I think.
