"Before I began my re-read, I had associated with this book only the scenes from Lenù's return to the neighborhood, or the scenes where the two women are pregnant together, and forgot that the beginning and ending were (respectively) very frustrating and very sad. The bad blood portion is obviously very challenging to read, to the point of affecting my mood, but coming out of this series is like emerging from a cocoon. Truly, truly brilliant, an outstanding work, a forever favorite."
