Lenny and Valentina both have so much childhood trauma but they were each other’s rock. Lenny is the protector, hot as sin bad boy but with a heart underneath. Valentina is the traumatized, abandoned, ab*sed, unhinged bad@ss who will do anything for revenge and to get answers. I don’t want to give away any details or spoilers, so I’m just gonna say it’s dark, it has a terrific plot with so many twists and turns and that cliffhanger will have you reeling. The amount of times I screamed and cried and squealed while reading it�. I can’t wait for book 2!"

The emotions it invokes will stay with me for a long long time.
Excellent writing by a really great writer not afraid to take on some serious Taboo’s.

I was drawn in the minute I started this book. I couldn’t put it down.
But I times I needed to step back and take a breather.
Valentina, I can’t even put into words how much my heart hurt for that child.
She is like a lost soul. One who truly doesn’t know herself.
Because of what almost every single cursed person that has been in her life has done to her.
I loved Lenny from that moment in the window.
And with each passing page he kept stealing pieces of my heart.
The twists and turns in the story kept me on edge and my blood pressure skyrocketing.
This story was an emotional roller coaster ride for me. It’s thrilling and soul shattering.

"Holy mother of God.

It's hard for me to really summarize how much I love this new dark romance from James. Although it's hard for me to just place it in the dark romance trope because the suspense and moody mystery here kept me deep in this world even when I wasn't able to read. My mind kept going back to these two and their unique dynamic and upbringing well into my work shifts and pto meetings.

Lenny and Valentina built their bond at a very young age on the backs of everyone who has wronged them. One meeting and the universe tied them together, til death due them part. Unfortunately, the death of one may come at the hands of the other.

We have kittens, fighting, religion, rival drug lords, a gem shop and the bond that ties it all together in one phenomenal novel, so it's hard telling what the rest of this series will turn up with.

I'll be recommending this one for the remainder of my days, but please, make sure that if you need to, you check your trigger warnings before the first page because those triggers will most likely happen within the first few minutes of your read."
