I read a few pages on the 16th and completely binged it today. I usually approach prequels with trepidation, especially if they come out years before the original series, but Collins hits it out of the ballpark with this book. Gripping the entire way through, and it holds the original, gritty magic of the Hunger Games. I want to read Haymitch's POV for the entire trilogy. ]]>

bookshelves: dnf
DNF at 30%. I really wanted to like this book, but it doesn't live up to the original. I agree with the critiques other reviewers have already said: the poetry doesn't hit, characters cry too often, dialogue is awkward, etc. It might be someone else's cup of tea, but not mine. If you want more Aristotle and Dante, I recommend looking for fanfiction. ]]>
