Some slight spoilers ahead...





It is the second book in a series. The main character, the boy with photographic memory, had solved a kidnapping case in the previous book. As a token of thanks, the girl whom he had saved invited him and some of his friends over to a lakehouse that her father owned. They agree to go with her.

They go out on the lake in speedboats and have fun in general. At night, the MC reads through a book about the plants in the area and memorises it. They meet a neighbour who lives there, who is interested in plants. The children notice a plane that flies very low over the lake at night. They get suspicious that something illegal is happening. They ask around. They decide to go on the speedboats one evening to catch the criminals.

The plane drops a load with a parachute, which the boy and one of his friends reach first before the criminals can get to it. It is a bag full of money to be laundered. The criminals catch them and kidnap the two kids. The boy and the friend manage to escape from the vehicle on which they were being kidnapped, and I think they hitchike back to the lakehouse ( I'm not entirely sure about how they get back)

I read it a while back and don't remember anything about the cover page, the author or anything like that.
