"Pitcher Perfect" is the fourth book in Tessa Bailey's "Big Shots" series and has the same wit, banter, and romance that Bailey is known for. This particular book centers around talented softball pitcher Skylar, who is desperate to have her brother's best friend (Madden) finally notice her as a woman and not just an annoying little sister. While choosing her enemy, known ladies' man Robbie, to be her partner in getting Madden's attention may seem inconceivable to some, they quickly realize that they have more in common than they ever realize. And what will Skylar do when she realize the man she's constantly thinking about is Robbie, not Madden?

This was a fun, enjoyable romance that I was able to read through quickly. I enjoyed the familial elements to this book, as well as reading about characters from previous books. I will definitely read the next book in this series! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own. ]]>

"Last Night Was Fun", by Holly Michelle, is a cute and enjoyable romance centering around two main characters who are fun to root for! When Emmy receives a text message meant for someone else, she replies and strikes up a conversation with an unknown man. The two soon find themselves talking constantly, and have so much in common. Emmy enjoys talking to him, particularly since work is incredibly stressful as she is battling her work rival, Gabe, for the same promotion. However, she keeps running into Gabe outside of work and realizes that he is very different than the aloof demeanor he wears at work. When Emmy finally decides to meet the man she's been texting, she's shocked to discover it's Gabe, but also a little relieved to realize that the two men she has feelings for are one and the same. Gabe agrees to go to Emmy's sister's destination wedding, and the sparks continue to fly. But what will happen when they return back home and have to work together?

I really enjoyed this book and enjoyed both of the main characters. I only wish there wasn't the stereotypical "miscommunication trope" at the end of the story, but thankfully it was resolved quickly. I will read more books by Holly Michelle in the future. "The Roommate Experiment" caught my eye because of its title, cover, and summary. This book, written by Camilla Isley, is the third book in her "Funny Feelings" series. Hunter has been in love with her best friend's brother for years, unbeknownst to everyone around her. When Hunter finds herself in need of a roommate and Dylan offers to move in, she's excited that this will finally be her chance to let him know what he's been missing. But she's devastated to learn that he has a new girlfriend. However, the close quarters make them both see what they've been missing for years.

Unfortunately, I had a hard time rooting for these characters, especially Hunter. She came across as petulant and unrealistic and I found myself skimming through the book. I have read books with similar storylines that were much more enjoyable. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own. ]]>

David Gate, noted poet, has published a new set of poems in the book, "A Rebellion of Care." He notes that "the mystery of life is not 'what is this all about?" The real mystery is 'how do we forget?' The beginning and end of it all is that we must take care of each other. Anyone on their deathbed can tell you that and certainly every child feels it too. To say that 'this life is beautiful' or that 'love is the answer' is not in the least bit original, but it is the truth. I believe that truth still hums with possibility. And saying something true in a world awash with lies is the first act of rebellion."

My favorite poems were "Don't Give Up on Yourself" and "Like Every Selfie." I appreciate how moving each poem and essay was, and the ease with which Gate writes. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own. ]]>
