Nothing really wrong with this per say just very mehh, I enjoyed the disability/ mental health representation in this but the story itself didn't really do much for me. I read this very quickly though, something about a ya contemporary means I'm going to read at the speed of light. ]]>

so maybe this wasn't for me... actually wasn't awful (there were parts I did enjoy) but certain things mentioned that meant it's capped for me. Oh and how the 'romance' unfolds was also not something I could get behind. ]]>

What a wonderful read! The word that comes to mind with this book is rich. Whether it's the world-building, the characters, the setting.. just spilling off the page. I felt fully immersed in the world, the overarching themes of self-discovery and how loss can mould us but we can also mould it were just explored so well. So many beautifully, explosive scenes alongside thunderously, subtle moments. The reveals kept on coming and truly I don't know that I saw any of them coming.

I feel Hafsah Faizal did such an incredible job in her character work and their interpersonal relationships, the characters were layered and even when you didn't agree with some of the things they did/ have done you understood them. I haven't even spoken on the romance which was just the slowest of slow burns in the best way possible. Also, her writing is just special - writers that put the words in such a way that it has a magic in itself. Needless to say if you have not picked this one up yet I implore you to give it a go! ]]>
