Arc review. 🤍

Thanks you @valentine_pr_ for my advanced copy. 🤍

What was supposed to be a tourist get away after heartbreaking events for Sawyer to rethink her life turned dangerous in a matter of hours. Jake runs into a women he just can’t seem to shake off while having life changing events coming to him left and right. They now have to face danger together while trying to process their life changing circumstances and doubts of the future, while exploring the connection they both strongly feel.

The story stars off slow until it got to a point where situations where rising and made me the reader love the pace and events, it can be read as a standalone and some side characters got my attention that I will have to go research the ones that are already out, and keep a look out for following releases. The way the story progressed got me hooked. Sawyer is a big sunshine while Jake is the complete opposite but she brings something out of him that he’s never felt before. I loved the side characters and how they were brought into the story, and how they made this story more lighthearted by having them in certain parts in the book. ]]>

The Strawberry Patch Pancake House by Laurie Gilmore
"4.5 stars

The cozy vibes of this small town single dad romance will have you settling into the Dream Harbour world easily and sweetly.

Archer Bauer had my heart and the fact that he is a world-renowned chef had me swooning especially when he left his original life behind for the daughter he never knew he had.

Archer showed up and did the work. When his daughter Olive started warming up to him I was aww'ing at these 2 getting close and couldn't wait for their relationship to get further cemented.

Once Iris entered the picture I was ready for her to get undeniably close to Olive & Archer despite her hesitance, watching her wanting to slowly but surely join this family duo & them becoming a team was heartwarming.
Dream Harbour is such a quaint little town and I wish I could go visit and experience it in-person. The setting and vibes ✨️ were just perfect. I found myself wanting to live there & partake in the festivity of it all. Also gotta admit they made me crave pancakes specifically ones made by Chef Archer 💘 Iris & his nightly pancake rituals with them getting closer was so tension filled 👏🏻

My only complaint is that the accidental/surprise pregnancy trope being added in the 3rd act was not needed... Archer just got his bearings with being a dad for Olive and then having this spring on didn't feel like it fitted imo... perhaps a time jump should have been implemented once Iris & Archer reconciled and then have the pregnancy occur a few years down the line. That would have made much more sense and felt more natural and cohesive. The first 60% of the book was better...

The bump aside (pun intended) it was a very enjoyable & sweet read. I liked the characters, both main and extras. This was definitely a character centered story but it never felt boring. It just felt nice getting to know them and experience their life in this hallmark vibed setting. I'd love to read the rest in this series!
