The Andy Serkis narration is simply perfection. As horrible as the movies were, the actors were fantastic and really mastered their roles with the materials they were given. That being said, you can hear a lot of influences in Andy's narration of those incredible actors in this edition. I can hear the misty, ethereal voice of Lee Pace as the Elvenking, I can hear the tone and even accent of Richard Armitage as Thorin, the booming, commanding voice of Cumberbatch as Smaug, and of course listening to Andy as Gollum in Chapter Five is pure gold. I never thought I'd say a narration of this book was better than Rob Inglis, but alas, here we are. Andy Serkis was simply MADE to read this book.
