I can't really tell how much literary cache this series is going to land with once it's all rolled out, but there's a lot going on under, and before, the sort of cozy utopian social progression of the sisterhood and its orbit. At some point I definitely saw that this was a novel AND stories but somehow rather than reading the table of contents or titles I launched right into Infect Your Friends and Loved Ones, which I had read and loved 10 years ago, and was excited to have expanded into a novel. Then I double checked, the story ended with much world left to explore, as it was. Then came The Chaser, an excellent bookend with The Masker (previously read), and of course, the novel(la?) Stag Dance itself, which I am absolutely reeling from.
