Pretty good book for starting my 2023 adventure of reading ten books about Latin America and the Caribbean. I chose this one because I thought it would be an easy entry. It turned out to be just as much about friendship and personal fortitude as it was about the state of life in the various countries sharing the Andes mountain range. And that was fine by me.

A real treat. I thought of this book as being a personal travelogue and read by an author who is not skilled at audiobook narration. Some authors do a terrible unlistenable job. Not so here. Yes, some misses on voicing, and some retakes on the beginnings of sentences, but even so, I really enjoyed listening to the author's own recollections of life with the Piraha.
