AND I MEANT IT.
I do want to additionally note that the great strength of this book is its characters, who are pretty much universally complicated people in the sense that their "complications" or flaws actually cost them things. Often we see characters who are technically flawed, but their flaws don't ac ...more

it was amazing
All of it stank wholly of deliberate smoke-- the thing humans called incense. [...] Shesheshen never trusted deliberate smoke. Humans were seldom up to anything good when they burned things on purpose.
