really liked it
I learned a lot from this book that I did not know, and, for that reason, it was time well spent. There were occasional digressions that I personally found less interesting; but overall I recommend it highly. The final page and a half were extraordinary on how books speak to us.

it was amazing
I am not always a sucker for a well-told animal biography, but this one fits that description perfectly. I read it voraciously, held my breath when the jumping competitions teetered on the balance of a trembling pole, rejoiced with Snowman’s steady accumulation of blue ribbons, gloried in the well-deserved triumphs of a former plow horse who narrowly escaped consignment to a dogfood factory, enjoyed his wins over high-strung nervous rivals, and l ...more
