This is an excellent dive into several big cases of the Civil Rights era. It explores how many folks involved in violence perpetrated by the KKK escaped justice for too many years and how some were eventually brought to justice. It is well written, fast paced, and avoids fluff (the author, after all, is an accomplished reporter).
