it was ok
The style is good, but the story is a real sleeper--like reading someone's calendar. I did not finish the book, but rather moved on to Dear Man.
$30K for a hike... Really? I LIVE on less than that! And returning home to LA & BF every several weeks doesn't really constitute a hike! Right?

OMG! I'd give it 10 stars. Most of us have been camping, but to become one with the forest is very rare, especially to this degree.
Here is a boy-turned-man over seven years who not only falls in love with the floors and fauna but discovers the 'civilized' world is not so civilized at all. The forest has its own cadence, its own rules, its own law... until man interferes.
