He had found a way of leaning forward against the bow so that he was almost comfortable. The position actually was only somewhat less intolerable; but he thought of it as almost comfortable.
The old man may not have had salt to season his food with, but he had a great deal of copium, and maybe that was enough. I liked it mostly as a meditation on stoicism and managing your own mental state, though of course there are other themes too. Always cool ...more
