Lovely. The mystery gets a little bit muddied in the second half, but the characters were great and I was engaged the whole way through. Satisfying ending. I'll happily keep reading anything by Choo. ...more

SO DRY. Sahara dry. The dialogue was also dry and stiff and formal, even during emotional moments. There were some supernatural-ish elements that I thought were interesting, and I did like the last couple chapters, but almost 500 pages to wait for any sort of payoff on the stuff I liked and slogging through the desert of writing was too much.
