Evening in Byzantium by Irwin Shaw

Pamela’s first review of the year

liked it
Not as good as Rich Man Poor Man or Beggarman Thief, but entertaining. Lovely setting (Cannes), jaded and has been film moguls trying to get deals together. Centers around Jesse Craig, an incorrigible womanizer, and his attempt to reinvigorate his floundering career.

Pamela’s last review of the year

did not like it
DNF. I hate to not finish a book. I read to 50%. I found the history of our farm subsidies and the lure to farmers to take on debt very interesting, but the story just dragged on and I decided to make an executive decision and return it to the library.
