Picking up one year after It Starts With Me ends, Amity is eaten up with guilt over the loss of her sister and is in hiding with Luke. When the Reaver begins torturing innocent people and demanding that she turn herself in, Amity sees an opportunity to stop t The second installment to the gutwrenching dystopian fantasy trilogy delivers a fast paced, high stakes sequel with twists and turns that had me devouring the pages to see what happens next.

Picking up one year after It Starts With Me ends, Amity is eaten up with guilt over the loss of her sister and is in hiding with Luke. When the Reaver begins torturing innocent people and demanding that she turn herself in, Amity sees an opportunity to stop the senseless violence from the inside out. Convincing herself, and Luke, that its the only way to stop the Reaver, she turns herself to the Guardianship and enters into the labyrinth of Omphalos to undergo the Reaver's rehabilitation program. While she's there, she learns shocking secrets about the Reaver, but the Reaver will stop at nothing to make sure the information is never brought to light.

Luke, charged with protecting Sarge at all costs, embarks on his own quest for redemption, vowing to save Amity and the tainted children left by the Guardianship to die. Along the way, he uncovers new revelations about why the Reaver is targeting Amity that threaten to unhinge him completely.

I started this book a few months ago and had to put it down because I just wasn't in the right headspace for it at the time. This book deals with some heavy and dark themes, not the least of which is torture, child abuse, neglect, and death, so check your trigger warnings before you start and strap in for a BINGE read. Picking it back up, I DEVOURED this book and was so upset that it ended!

Kati's writing style pulled me into the first person narratives like I was the characters. I was immersed in the world and the actions and understood everything in real time with Luke and Amity, which I really enjoyed and appreciated. Kati has such an eloquent and engaging writing style, I will read anything she writes.

I cannot wait for the epic conclusion to this trilogy and I encourage anyone who's a fan of Hunger Games and looking for their next dystopian fantasy with a badass FMC, a super awesome dog, high stakes adventure, and some dark twisted mysteries you can't help but be sucked into and crave the answers to, then look no further! ...more

This has been on my TBR for a WHILE and I finally just decided to read it despite having 1000 other books to read but my curiosity got the better of me lol.

I really enjoyed this. I love Greece, both ancient and modern, and Im also obsessed with archeology. I was thst kid that preferred watching excavation documentaries on the History channel to cartoons. And I love british detective murder mysteries.

This book blended all three of these passions ...more
