(view spoiler)[In The Hummingbird Dagger, an unmarried female character is called "the Honorable Misses Hanton," and then subsequently referred to as "Misses Hanton". Why is this terminology used instead of "the Honorable Miss Hanton" or "Miss Hanton"? (hide spoiler)]

Hello Bethany, I cannot find this reference in the final copy of The Hummingbird Dagger--is it possible you have an uncorrected ARE? Misses Hanton is the plural form (two girls) of how the girls would be addressed when lumped together as the are both honorables. Pg 227: singular--honorable Miss Hanton Page 265 plural--two Misses Hanton. Hope this helps.

Carol and Chaos (coming out in October) takes place a few months after Suitors and Sabotage. Many of the same characters are involved but the focus shifts to below-stairs. Kate (lady's maid) and Matt (valet) are the main characters this time around; they are forced to deal with devious counterfeiters while trying to keep their growing affections in check.

Hello Dylan, The seed of Suitors and Sabotage grew from my very active imagination and research that described how many British families of the upper echelons of society spent their summers visiting one another. It was great fun to imagine their antics, getting in and out of trouble.

My niece loves, loves, loves this book. She has read it 3 times now. We were trying to figure which subsequent books have the same characters appear.

My writer's block is almost always a red flag that I have gone off in the wrong direction. I go back a paragraph, page or chapter, delete and rewrite. Works every time--for me.

As most people know, to write well you have to read. Find books that resonate, that make you want to run to the computer and start writing.

Almost all my plots begin with the question: ‘what if. This ‘what if found its seed in an article I read about smugglers and spies being in cahoots during the Napoleonic Wars.
