Thanks for the question Justin. I'll never write a book that means more to me than Soul, of course. Spending all that time traveling around the country with my friends Buck O'Neil and Bob Kendrick, I mean, it can't possibly get better than that.
But I will say that writing WHY WE LOVE BASEBALL was just SO much fun. Each book is rewarding in its own way, obviously, but I am so excited for people to see this one because even though it's not about me at all, it's probably my most personal book. And I had fun with it every single day.

Thanks Greg! Will pass along.

Thanks Debbie. Yep, baseball is next and then football. But I'd love to get around to another golf book if the timing works out.

Thank you Phil. Means a lot to me.

All three were very close -- if it was a Baseball 200, all of them would have been in it.

Thank you so much for this Rob, it means the world to me. This is exactly why I wrote The Life and Afterlife of Harry Houdini.

Hi Jack. Thanks for the question. Super lucky that Jeff and Nick are friends and both also play a pretty major (and even more direct) role in my next book, Why We Love Baseball. They are both big baseball fans (and, perhaps not coincidentally, both big Chicago Cubs fans) and each offers a great perspective for how to think about the game. Oh, and they're both just lovely people.

Thank you Mark! This means the world to me.

Great idea David. I am already working on my next book, WHY WE LOVE BASEBALL, which will (in quick summary) count down the 50 most legendary moments in baseball history. But definitely like this idea too. Thanks!

Hi Jill! Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm only now checking out some questions here on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ, and your question really made my day. Thank you!

Hi Brina. The list definitely DID skew, at least a little bit, toward modern players. That was on purpose ... I think lists like these too often snub modern players. Baseball is very different from football or basketball in that we fans really venerate players from 100 years ago, which is a wonderful part of the game. But I think in the process we sometimes overlook just how great today's players really are. Thanks for the question!

I know it's cliche to say that each essay provided its own challenge ... but I would say that's really true. As I hope comes through, I wanted to make each one special.
Probably the most challenging were the essays of players people already know a lot about -- DiMaggio, Mantle, Mays, Aaron, Ruth etc. With those players, there has already been so much written that finding a new way to tell their story was a test. But you definitely picked the one that was most challenging -- that was Musial because I knew him and wanted so much to have the essay live up to just a small part of his greatness. Thanks for the question!

I'm telling everyone that it will not only make you a better golfer, it will make you a better human being. And that the secret of golf is in there. But realistically I'm just trying to sell books.
In all seriousness, there are some really good tips in here from Watson and Nicklaus. They're more mental approach tips, things I think about now all the time. I don't know if they will make you a better golfer, no guarantees, but I will say: It couldn't hurt.
