Hi Kane, thanks for asking. I think the stereotype which affected me the most in my childhood is the connotation that if you have brown skin you are economically poor and that brown skin is not a standard of beauty. Although self love and acceptance is more important for me than proving myself to others -- there were times that I wanted to prove people wrong. At first, I thought, it's ok to let people think however they want to think as long as I think differently about myself. But then as I grew older I realised that stereotyping is a very destructive behaviour. It creates a lot of harmful patterns that causes a chain reaction of negativity in society.

There is no proper cure for this... but I find emptying your mind works like rebooting. Take a walk outside, go to a cafe, hang around and do nothing, take a long warm bath, activities that don't require serious thinking helps like magic.
