About Vera- you say she is 60 years old but you refer to her as an old lady. If you hadn't mentioned her age, from all you wrote I'd have guessed she was, maybe 85 years old. When you reach your 60th year will you appreciate being called an old lady?
Jesse Q. Sutanto Yes I will, because in my culture, same as Vera's, the older you are, the more respect you garner, therefore to be seen as old is a sign of respect. Have a nice day! :)

Babe I NEED more Draycott books. Please tell me you're coming out with more. Also, what is the age range for 'Dial A for Aunties'?
Jesse Q. Sutanto I *just* got the idea for a sequel to The Obsession, so yassss hopefully more Draycott books coming!

Dial A is women's fiction, but there honestly isn't anything much darker than The Obsession in it. It does have off-screen sex.

Will you continue the Draycott books? I found my love for reading with The Obsession. I can't get enough, I'm 44 years old. Never in my life have I read a book so fast and ran to get The New Girl. These could be movies in my opinion. These are easy to read and captivating. Seriously though will you write more of these set in Draycott?
Jesse Q. Sutanto Thank you so much for this question! Draycott has been on the back of my mind and once in a while, I do go back and prod at it to see if any new ideas will surface. I haven't thought of one yet, but once I do, I will definitely explore it!

hii! i wanna say that i really love dial a for aunties. i'm chinese-indo and i read this book during cny this year and it hit really hard HAHAH. i really loved the way you represented the culture in the book. so, related to that, how do you do it so smoothly? i also want to write a story with indonesians as the mcs, but i find it hard to put in the culture without making it awkward 😭 so.. how? ada saran nggak?
Jesse Q. Sutanto Throw in a dead body? Hahahaa AAHHH. But really, I found it so hard to write Chinese-Indo characters because the drama hit waaay too close to home, and it didn't start falling into place until I threw in a dead body. So my suggestion would be to come up with some ridiculous plot to get some distance from the situation.

Hiya! I as a fellow Chinese-Indo girl I never really saw myself in particularly romance book. Only when I read WTWU did I feel truely seen for the first time in a book. I ABSOLUTLY LOVE AND ADORE THE REPRESENTATION OF INDONESIAN CULTURE IN WTWU (I read in twice in a row) and I was just wondering whether future characters of your books will also be Chinese-Indonesian?
Jesse Q. Sutanto Oh I'm so happy to hear that! <3 Thank you so much for reading it and letting me know how you felt about it, that means so much to me. Yes, I have other books with Chinese-Indo characters -- Dial A for Aunties has a Chinese-Indo MC, and there is an upcoming YA romcom spin-off to WTWU which will feature Kiki as the MC. :)

How did you write 9 books in 2 years? That is just so mind blowing. Especially when your debut novel was only in 2021.
Jesse Q. Sutanto Honestly, a combination of having anxiety, which I cope with through therapy and frenzied writing, plus just learning how to write quickly and consistently!

Is there going to be a sequel to "The obsession" or a book following it afterward?
Jesse Q. Sutanto Hmm I've been poking at the possibility of that because so many people are asking for one. But as of now, I haven't come up with an idea for a sequel yet. Hopefully one day soon I will!!

I just finished Dial A for Aunties and Four Aunties and a Wedding.......absolutely loved them. Thank you for the glimpse into a culture filled with traditions and pride. Will this be a series you'll continue? Thanks from you new rabid fan...P.S. I loved the part where the Aunties want to leave the bad guy in a pasture and hope a cow will eat him
Jesse Q. Sutanto Ahh haha thank you so much!! Yes, there will be a book 3, but it won't be out until 2024 to make room for VERA WONG'S UNSOLICITED ADVICE FOR MURDERERS. If you like the aunties, I think you will love Vera. <3

How do you write so many books in a year???? And I loved Dial A for Aunties SOOOO much I couldn't even word. It's just super too good.
Jesse Q. Sutanto THANK YOU!!! That is so kind of you! Umm, how do I write so many books...caffeine, lack of a social life, lack of hobbies...? Haha! Also, over the years I have learned how to write pretty fast, so I write 2,000 words every weekday, which amounts to quite a few words over time!

Hi Jesse, I have just finished reading Four Aunties and a Wedding. It was a wild ride as well as an absolute joy to read. Your opening dedication highly moved me. As a mixed-race AAPI woman, it makes my heart happy to see more diverse representation in the literary space. Thank you for writing amazing books! I was wondering if their is a possibility for love or an hea for any of the aunties in future books? #auntie#2?

Hello! Did you laugh while you were writing "Dial A For Aunties?" It was so funny and delightful that I would have imagined you laughing throughout most of it!
Jesse Q. Sutanto Haha! Yes, I did laugh while writing Dial A for Aunties! I also laughed a lot while plotting it, and gasped out loud a couple of times when I figured out a twist. It was one of the most fun I've had writing a book.
