An error occurred while sorting questions for author Kate Belli.
So, I just want to confirm that Daniel and Genevieve series is dead? You wouldn't consider going to a new publisher for it? there are several series Rhys Bowen, Victoria Thompson, Alyssa Maxwell & others that that place during this same time period. This is very disappointing to hear. I am a series person. I will buy a series over a stand alone, every day. kristina

Thanks so much for your note. I hear you, as I, too, adore a series. I am not against taking D & G to another publisher, or even self publishing, but at present neither is possible for rights/legal reasons. That could change, so I don't want to say D & G are over for good, but I also can't give a definitive answer on when another might be out. I understand that's frustrating (I'm frustrated by it too!). Thanks for reaching out the press, too, that could help.
I'm so sorry to keep readers in a holding pattern! I hope to have some better news soon.

Hi Kate: I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this series and was hoping it was going to continue. You had referenced the fifth book in the Gilded Gotham series being completed in an answer to another question. I’m wondering if you could take the already completed fifth book in this series to Emily Bestler Books—the new publisher you’re using for the another series starting with “The Gallery Assistant?�
Kate Belli Hi Eva - thank you so much for your interest and your question! I think I gave the wrong impression - Gilded Gotham 5 isn't written yet, but it is outlined, so I know exactly what happens. Unfortunately, changing publishers with an existing series is a challenge. EBB has contracted me for two standalone thrillers, and I don't think historical mystery is part of their purview. There's also a complicated rights situation, so for now the Gilded Gotham world has to stay with Crooked Lane. If any of this changes (and it could!) I'd be ready to go with Book 5, so we'll see. I'm so appreciative of your enjoying the books and thinking to contact me - thank you again! :)

Kate Belli Hi Carina, I'm so glad you've enjoyed the books! I honestly don't know what can be done, as this is my publisher's decision. You're welcome to let them know how you feel, if they felt readers wanted more, perhaps they'd change their minds. I really appreciate your taking the time to read and to reach out.

Thanks for reading Deception! Yes, Genevieve and Daniel are coming back in October 2021 in Betrayal on the Bowery. I'm still waiting on a cover but it's listed under my author page if you'd like to mark it as "to read," and it's available for pre order through most major retailers. Also, just announced yesterday: Book 3 in the series is coming in 2022!
