Thank you for dropping by! I recently finished the Mulan novel and I’m excited to share it with y’all. It follows the cartoon timeline (but diverges from Mulan 2), so you can expect the sparks to fly with Li Shang. Mulan finds herself the reluctant empress of China, and the Huns also return to cause mischief.

During the Chinese civil war, my grandparents retreated to Taiwan with the Kuomingdang. Everybody thought it was just a temporary retreat, so they left their 2 and 5 year old daughters (my aunts) in China. Long story short, it was 40 years before my grandparents could return, and they never found their daughters. Knowing how that time period went down, they're probably dead, but who knows. The mystery would make a good novel, but I don't think I could write it. Being a mother myself, it's too painful to think about my grandparents going through that.

Yes, I'm currently working on a new unrelated YA series. Can't share much at the moment, but I've been researching PTSD, the persian empire, history of medicine, terminal illness, archery, and fencing.

Thanks Anna! The demon cats don't correspond to any real world cat species. I envision them kind of like the door knocker on the cover of Midnight Thief. There are also some fantastic demon cat renditions on my fanart pinterest board.

Find a critique group or critique partners that you trust. Finishing a novel is a lot of work, and having that accountability is really helpful. Plus, the feedback is essential. Find critique partners who enjoy the genre you're writing in and give you a good mix of positive and negative feedback. It also helps if you like their writing as well.

Kyra’s story ends with Daughter of Dusk. However, I do have a partial draft of a spinoff novel telling the story of her parents. That project is currently on the back burner right now because my publisher has not picked it up, though I do plan to finish it and publish it at some point. If this is a book that you’d like to see, the best way to make it happen is to spread the word about the MIDNIGHT THIEF series. The better the series does, the more incentive my publisher (or another publisher) will take it on.

No spinoffs planned as of now, but he has some POV scenes in Daughter of Dusk. Readers might also find that James's thread in Daughter of Dusk reconciles the two sides of him we saw in POISON DANCE and MIDNIGHT THIEF

Yes, James plays a major role in the second book. The current draft even has two scenes from his point of view, but that may change with future versions.
