Amy Harmon There are some great middle grade and YA versions of Deborah Samson's story already out there, but nothing for adults. I really wanted her story known by the grown ups, and adult fiction is what I write. But thank you for reading and caring about her story. She was a remarkable woman.
Amy Harmon Thank you! The Outlaw Noble Salt releases TUESDAY! I hope you love that one too.
Amy Harmon I never remember what lit the first spark or inspired the beginning threads. I just really love medieval stories and folklore and families, everything these books are made up of.
Amy Harmon Every book I write tends to have a love story at the heart, so I can't steer you toward something of mine that's less romantic. You might really like The First Girl Child and The Second Blind Son, however. They have a Vikings, The Last Kingdom feel to them, with lots of story, lots of intrigue, history and magic all combined. If you enjoyed What the Wind Knows, however, I really do think you'll like all my books, even with the romance.
Amy Harmon It was always the thing I was best at. I didn't write my first full length novel until I was in my thirties--busy raising kiddos and trying to survive. It was not until the advent of self-publishing that I just jumped into the river or writers with my humble offerings and told myself to swim. I've since found a publisher and thousands of readers. I've been swimming ever since. Hardest thing I've ever done. Best thing I've ever done. I hope I can keep writing until the day I die.
Amy Harmon I hope you went back and read the first book. A rune is a symbol. If it's on the skin, it would probably look like a tattoo or scar. On wood, an engraving, etc.
Amy Harmon I hope so too. I think so many people don't know that I write all kinds of stories. I had a reader the other day apologize to me. She'd read half a dozen of my books without realizing I was the same author. I guess I need better branding! :-)
Amy Harmon I'm proud of all my stories for different reasons. I know the blood, sweat, and tears I put into each one. I can probably tell you a favorite thing about each, if I sat and thought about it. I love What the Wind Knows and Where the Lost Wander because they have my own family history in them. That's always exciting. I love From Sand and Ash because it was a huge Mount Everest for me, a book I didn't know if I could write. I love The First Girl Child and The Second Blind Son because they stretched me so much. I love The Songbook of Benny Lament because the story line was so complicated and so delicious--another stretch. I'm so lucky I've been able to write so many genres and make a living at it. I hope my readers will keep following wherever I go.

Amy Harmon I know my earlier books are marketed as YA in many other countries--probably because of the age of the characters, most are young adults--but I have never written with a particular audience in mind. Many of my most loyal readers are senior citizens. I get the most beautiful letters from my oldest readers. I received on the other day from an 87 yr old widower who loved Making Faces. He asked me to write a book with an "old timer' as my main character, and he's really got me thinking about it. Thank you for reading and for your enthusiasm. A Girl Called Samson is a book I'm very excited about. I hope you love it too.
Amy Harmon I had another one planned, but I have several projects that are due first. Have you tried The First Girl Child? It has the same feel, and there will be a second book in that world coming in 2021. xo
Amy Harmon Thank you, Julie. How do I do it? I think the answer must be that I've just refused to stop writing. I am grateful every day I've found success doing what I love and that readers keep picking up my books. Thank you for your sweet message.
