Generally I will switch to another writing project. I view writer's block the way I would trying to solve a puzzle. If I get frustrated I will move on to something entirely different and often times the solution to my plot or character development will hit me as I'm doing something else.

Be thick-skinned. Look for the constructive criticism in all reviews you get, whether positive or negative. Read books and articles about how to improve your writing and avoid writing pitfalls. And most important: don't give up.
