Hi Beth,
Thanks for asking! My inspiration always comes from a lot of different places.
In this case, I knew the hero was the brother of Val from A Hidden Heir to Redeem Him so I knew he had a conflict with their father.
Then my editor asked if I could give it a fairy tale theme since the all books that month had them. I chose Beauty and the Beast and that's how Javier wound up getting injured.
Finally, Scarlett is very driven and has a lot to juggle. She seemed like someone who would not realize she was suffering post-natal depression and would just push herself along as so many new moms do.
The rest was just plodding word by word, trying to make it come together.
Cheers,
Dani

Hi Veda,
I'm so glad you've found my books and are enjoying them!
Rico appeared when I created his brother, Cesar Montero for the second book in my baby swap duet. The baby swap are:
1) THE MARRIAGE HE MUST KEEP (Alessandro and Octavia, unrelated to the Monteros.)
2) THE CONSEQUENCE HE MUST CLAIM (Cesar Montero and Sorcha)
When readers asked if Rico would get a story, I married him to Poppy in THE MAID'S SPANISH SECRET.
Their sister Pia is the heroine of BOUND BY THEIR NINE MONTH SCANDAL.
The Monteros are a powerful, titled Spanish family who all happen to be geniuses, but their parents were very cold and practical. Not cruel, but not loving, so they all struggle to open their hearts to their partners.
I hope you enjoy them! Happy reading,
Dani

Darcy and Elizabeth, of course! But also Leda and Samuel from The Shadow And The Star. They're interesting, very different people who are meant to be. It's very sweet, watching them fall in love.
I could probably go on with many couples from contemporary works. I love romance in general. Couples who have a long journey, overcome their own demons, and HEA make my happy.

Hi Emona,
If you mean Paolo and Lauren, their story is already written. It's called PROOF OF THEIR SIN. It was my very first Harlequin Presents and is one of my favourites. I hope you enjoy it!

Hi Emona,
Thanks for getting in touch. I have not written Ra'id and Amineh's story. They were characters I created for Zafir's back story, but Ra'id is very hero-like, isn't he?
I will put my mind to this. Perhaps I could write a short story about them, or a flashback or something. Sometimes I write bonus content for my newsletter and this might be a nice way to revisit Zafir and Fern, too.
If you're interested in joining my website, please email me directly from my contact page on my website (). I am in the middle of changing over how it is delivered and wouldn't want to lose you in the shuffle. :)
Take care,
Dani

Hi Cynthia,
Great question!
I'm married to my high school sweetheart and I would definitely say we are connected in ways that go beyond any of my other relationships. We know each other's thoughts and the quickest way to make the other laugh. We share similar views about the way the world should run.
I don't know if that's due to spending some thirty (!) years together, or if we were drawn together because we were already on the same wavelength.
Either way, he's my best friend yet often my opposite in ways that perfectly compliment me. Eg. He is grounded and says he's a realist (I say pessimist) whereas I'm flighty and ever so hopeful and idealistic (he says delusional.) He likes facts, I like gut feelings.
Those sorts of things round us out for each other so as a team, we're well-equipped in this world (in my ever so optimistic opinion!)
I sometimes worry that people think 'soul mate' means 'perfect' and wind up with expectations that can't be met, though. You can't go this long in a relationship without some disagreements and flat out thinking your partner is WRONG at certain times.
But I think if you're able to find someone with similar core values to your own who also balances your weaknesses with some strength (I'm horribly impulsive. He is infinitely patient!) then you've found the right person for you.
What about you? Have you found your other half?

Yes Paula! I totally agree. Plus they even make us better by challenging those little flaws and rough edges. At least mine does. Thanks for commenting

Hi Pattie,
I have checked with my publisher and both Hometown Hero and Blame The Mistletoe will likely be exclusive to Amazon for at least six months, possibly up to a year.
So the answer is 'yes' but eventually, not soon. Can I mail you a signed bookmark to keep as a reminder? Email me your street address if you'd like one. I feel awful that you have to wait! Have you tried the Kindle app?

I recently quit my day job so the answer is, Being A Writer. :)

I don't believe in it. If I'm having trouble thinking of the next words, I've either gone off the rails with the story and need to go back and revise, or I'm burnt out. I need a walk, sleep, nutrition... a break of some kind. (short!) Maybe a day. Then I sit down and write something awful if I have to, but mostly I trust that the words will show up and they do.

Hang in there and enjoy the process. I wrote for 25 years before I made my first sale. There were tough times, but I learned to simply enjoy the writing part. Embrace the freedom to do whatever you want. Then figure out what kind of career you want, the kinds of books you could be happy writing again and again. Query editors who publish those kinds of books and if it takes a long time, don't worry! Readers will still be there when your book arrives. Take as much time as you need to make it great.

I have a Christmas story with Tule's Montana Born imprint that's due in a few weeks and a Harlequin Presents due at the end of the summer. The Presents will be Book Four in my Makricosta series - Demitri's story!

Coffee. No, I don't need a ton of inspiration. This is a career I've dreamt about most of my life. Writing was always something I had to carve time to do so I learned to sit down and focus, put words on the page and make it happen.

My August 2014 Harlequin Presents, The Ultimate Seduction, is part of a three book mini series brought to me by Harlequin. I worked with Maya Blake and Victoria Parker to create the story world. It's a secret club that is a 21st Century take on a traditional Gentleman's Club of yore. We each then plotted our own stories within 'QVirtus'.
