C.L. Quinn I know this is going to sound weird, but a lot of writers will agree. The characters from each book lead me to the next. Before Book 9 of my series was even partially finished, Book 10 was already developing.
C.L. Quinn Now, with some success on Amazon, wonderful readers who enjoy my work and wait for each volume anxiously, I have the freedom to be a writer full time. The fact that I can do this for a living, that the stories are so alive, I cannot NOT write. My inspiration is bringing these incredible characters alive and that there is an audience there waiting to journey with them. It's powerful and, for this little writer, EPIC.
C.L. Quinn A Christmas novella for my series, which I haven't officially announced because I'm not sure that I will have time to complete it before the holiday. The story flooded my mind about 2 weeks ago and won't let me rest until I finish it.
C.L. Quinn Write. Write more. Most importantly, FINISH something. Anything...but take a story through from beginning to end and work that piece, tell the tale and then retell it until you have it as good as you think it can be. Then, brave the dark waters, and share it with people so that your hard work can breathe. Then, write. Write more. And when you are ready, go ahead, take the leap, and publish your words. "You miss 100% of all the shots you never take." I can't remember who said that, but it is REALLY true!
C.L. Quinn Easy answer here! My overactive mind has a place to go to play! Plus, I get to work outside on a lovely summer day instead of being trapped inside of 4-square for 12 hours at a time. Writing is hard work, and love, and magic, and frustration, and a way to let the artist inside of me live!
C.L. Quinn Stream of consciousness writing opens up so many possibilities. Since I do a series right now, I rarely have to worry about it since the world nearly builds itself...and the characters tell me what to do! Also, as I try to sleep, I just let my mind wander, and it's interesting where it wanders. Ideas just jump out and I often have to get up to capture them before they fade away!
