poem inspiration/head stuff
of all the things in my head i write about, some that makes me feel better as a person is doing poems when i feel stressed/anxious/depressed. a nasty combination. sometimes even ppl close by dont know how i feel or if they do, how to deal with it. but being a writer has a small coping strategy - doing a poem on it. better than any pills or false fix. even if the work is dark/abrupt/strong in topic, its a creative thing outa almost nothing(negative mental states). and if some1 sez 'oh, you wrote it as i felt once...' thats good... the hardest thing is this: confronting your own fears and then having the guts to write about it and then share it with the world. as it can be a very nasty world at times. but also understanding too...

1 of my older 90s poems...
ROOKERY
The tall oak trees stand strong and powerful around the old churchyard.
The season is winter and there are no leaves on the trees.
Cold touches everything, especially the sheltering rooks in their nests atop
the massive oaks.
These birds have nested here for years, ever since the Brontë sisters lived
and died at Howarth.
I hear the rooks cry and I know that it is the same cry Anne, Emily and Charlotte
heard so long ago.

been doing some new poems for my new book
JIMMY BOOM SEMTEX PICNIC book is getting there. gonna have 10k+ words and 32 pages of pix. nice mix of craaazy poems and old skool lo res pix on varied things. heres a poem for you outa my book:
Unwilling Participant
Out of the sky from a far away planet. Coming closer to home, near us. A piece of space dust belonging to an alien. An alien called Kevin with a bad attitude. He never wanted to be an alien nor go into space. Or be called Kevin. But was forced to at laser cannon point. Don't want to go, we'll fry your big alien b*lls. Climb aboard your space dust and fly away. His trip took many lifetimes. Finally he arrived. Totally pissed off. So the alien visiting earth, named Kevin, is an unwilling participant in furthering earthling and alien relations. Even though he has a bad attitude and hates space.
