What would you do with a paranormnal gift? By @JenniferStGiles #mgtab

**I'm honored to present my friend, and USA Today best-selling author, Jennifer St. Giles, to the blog today to talk about her newest release called Kaylee's Justice. ÌýFirst, let me thank Mimi for inviting me here today and let me tell you that she is one amazingly dynamic woman who blesses many with her big heart and infectious enthusiasm. She has blessed me.

Ìý
Now, let’s have some fun! Have you ever considered what it would be like to have a paranormal gift? If you could choose one for yourself, what power would you pick, and what would you do with it? I love asking questions like these and more. Questions are the joyride of storytelling. I get in my decked out writer-mobile (office chair on wheels), crank open the sunroof (the blinds on my window), start the engine (my not so spry brain), and go (sometimes at full speed sometimes at a crawl).
Ìý
The “what if road I travel on leads me to amazing destinations. In fact, I play what if so much in so many directions that I write under three different names in a multitude of genres, but you can count on one very important thing. Goodness, hope, courage and love always conquers all obstacles and all evils.
Ìý
In Kaylee’s Justice, Exposed Series, Case File 1, I had a lot of fun with my “what if journey even though the subject matter was a dark road to drive across.
Ìý
I started with “what if my heroine, Eva St. Claire, is a psychic who uses her gift to write True Crime novels.
ÌýThen I added that all of the St. Claires are blessed/cursed with psychic gifts they can never escape. These gifts compel them to fight the many faces of evil in the world even though the battle has always led their ancestors to a tragic end. To protect themselves, they keep their gifts a secret from almost everyone, especially the authorities. Eva is driven to do all that she can as quickly as she can in hopes that her work will save others from falling into a killer’s trap. Everyone matters in her book. The very last person she wants invading her world is a nosy FBI agent.
So, of course I had to say what if again
ÌýFBI Agent Adam Frasier thinks psychics are lowlife shysters. They took advantage of his mother and played a part in her downward spiral into mental illness. He is haunted by a tragic past and the one person he blames more than anyone else is himself. He doesn’t deserve the good in life. He spends his life on the ragged edge of duty as he hunts for the elusive Artist of Death—a person who sends police the GPS of victims, their portraits, and mugs of their killers.
ÌýAnd I had to then say what if…Eva and her sister Iris are the Artist of Death? The questions don’t stop there, but I’ll leave the other surprises for you to read.
So my question to you is what paranormal gift would you choose, and what would you do with it? Post answers here to win a copy of Kaylee’s Justice. I will be giving away two digital editions!
Ìý5 star Review: "Jennifer St. Giles is a must-buy author for me. Her stories are riveting and her characters are unforgettable. Highly recommended read."Ìý

Two Hearts in Winter (5stars!) - newest book by USA Today best-selling author, Donna Fasano #mgtab

Two Hearts in Winter
Ocean City Boardwalk Series, Book 2
Ìý

ÌýLong Book Description:
ÌýLoss and betrayal have caused Heather Phillips to give up on love. She’s thrown herself into running The Lonely Loon, her Bed and Breakfast located on the boardwalk of Ocean City, Maryland. The “off seasonâ€ in this tourist town is usually a time of rest and reflection for her; however, DB Atwell, a famous author, arrives at The Loon for the winter to finish his long-overdue novel. Daniel, too, has faced grief, and tragedy continues to haunt him. Once Heather and Daniel meet, their lives will never be the same.
Ìý
Reminiscent of Nights in Rodanthe by Nicholas Sparks and culminating in a happily-ever-after similar to the great Nora Roberts, Two Hearts in Winter is a story about learning to let go of the past, about realizing that, though hardship affects us, it need not define us, and about coming to understand and truly believe that beauty is sometimes covered in scars. The human heart has an amazing ability to forgive, to heal, and to hope, especially when touched by love.
Ìý

Excerpt 1:Ìý

It wasn’t Heather’s aim to embarrass the girl; she just wanted to cut through the lies to get to the truth as quickly as possible.
“Listen, hon. Heather leaned forward. “Why don’t you tell me what this is all about?
She smiled, but she had to admit, after speaking with the woman at Atlantic Coastal this morning, she’d felt completely stumped. Why in the world would this girl approach her like she had? Why would she lie?
“I’m tired of proofing, Sandra finally said. “And I don’t want to be an editor. I want to be a writer. And paying writing gigs are few and far between in this business. Newspapers are shutting down. Everyone is going digital. It’s it’s hard.
Heather gently pried the plastic lid off her tea. She lifted the rim to her mouth and took a sip. The heady tastes hit her tongue: cardamom, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves, and the richly scented steam wafted around her face.
The answer Sandra gave was completely plausible. It seemed like a perfectly natural thing for a journalist wannabe to do write an interesting story about The Lonely Loon and present it to the magazine’s publisher as proof of her writing skills.
Heather nodded. “I see. She set the cup down again, pleased by the calm demeanor that she’d been able to present. As she’d driven over to the west side of town, she’d fretted about the confrontation. But it had been simple, really. Just asking for the simple truth had been the best solution.
There were still a couple of questions niggling at her, though. “But why lie? she asked. “Why didn’t you just tell me you were going after a writing job at your magazine?
Sandra's chin tipped up, and she unwittingly slid her palm over the silver laptop that sat on the table, her gaze zeroing in on Heather’s face. “You would have helped me get a story?
“Of course, I would help you. Heather smiled. “I like to see people succeed. If I can help you, I will. You silly twit, whispered through her mind, but luckily she was able to keep the offensive moniker from slipping off her tongue. “Who wouldn’t like to help someone advance in their career?
“Oh, wow, Sandra gushed. “I don’t know what to say. I just this is so nice of you.
Heather’s smile widened. Now that the truth was sitting like an open book in front of them, they could get down to work. She could tell Sandra that her mother had been the one who had established The Lonely Loon, and she could explain where the name had come from. And how she’d taken over the business after her mother had died of breast cancer. She’d be sure to name a few of the neighboring boardwalk businesses and their owners to offer as much promotion to her friends as she could. The owners of the shops, restaurants, and hotels on the boardwalk were a tight-knit group.
Sandra reached into her satchel and pulled out an eight by ten piece of paper and slid it across the table.
“What’s this? Heather asked.
As her eyes scanned the short, full-caps header—WRITER DB ATWELL’S DAUGHTER MISSING. Heather’s blood froze and she felt like she were sitting in a vacuum.
“This is the story I want. The words burst from Sandra like blustery wind during a nor’easter. “I have a friend who works at the Associated Press. He sent this to me just before Christmas. It’s taken me weeks to track him down. DB Atwell, I mean. The teachers at his daughter’s school aren’t talking. His publisher isn’t talking. Even his agent blew me off.
Heather watched Sandra’s mouth moving, she even heard the words, but the situation had taken such a bizarre turn, that she felt truly dumbfounded.
“I’ve tracked him to Ocean City, I believe, Sandra continued. “And although I haven’t seen him, I’m pretty sure he’s hiding out at your B&B. He's the one you mentioned yesterday, isn't he? The guest who needs quiet. I want you to tell me about him. I need you to tell me everything you know. About him. And his missing daughter.
ÌýExcerpt 2:
Ìý“The worst of it was the stroke of midnight.â€ Heather sighed. “Everyone got a New Year’s kiss but me.â€
“Well, that’s not quite fair, now is it?
The tone of his voice had her gaze lifting to connect with his. Merriment sparkled in his eyes. Was he laughing at her? Poking fun?
She slid her fingers from between his forearm and hand, meaning to pull away from him, from the situation that could very quickly turn both awkward and embarrassing for her. Feeling vulnerable was not something she enjoyed. She mentally kicked herself for not keeping the conversation light and fluffy. That’s what he’d expected, wasn’t it? It’s the only kind of conversation that most guys liked. Nothing too intense. Nothing too sensitive. Frivolous. Insignificant. Superficial. That’s what
He reached out and captured her jaw between his gentle fingers, and she went stock still. With light, steady pressure, he guided her toward him. With excruciating slowness, he leaned forward.
He was close, so close she could feel his warm, vanilla scented breath against her cheek.
What the hell was he doing? She should stop this. She should place her hand on his shoulder and give a good, hard push. But her muscles had gone all spongy and useless. She had no idea what he planned to do, but every cell in her body wanted him to do it.
Daniel tipped up her chin and closed the small gap between them.
His lips were soft and hot against hers. The kiss was
…over before she had a chance to really enjoy it.
“Everyone deserves a New Year’s kiss.
His silky soft voice sent shivers spiraling down the full length of her body. She felt giddy, and drunker than any rum runner could ever account for.
“Ha…Happy New Year, she stammered.
Before she could finish, his mouth was on hers again. This kiss was longer, more lingering, and teetered on the edge of hungry.
When he broke away, Heather heard a strange whooshing, and she realized it was the sound of her blood throbbing at a wild rate through her veins. She swallowed, exhaled slowly, and blinked.
He smiled broadly. “That, he told her, “was for telling your friends that I’m perfectly nice.

Author Interview:
ÌýWhat are you reading now or what do you have in your TBR pile?Ìý
I just finished Learning to Swim by Sara Henry. I’m currently reading Julia’s Daughters by Colleen Faulkner. On my TBR pile you’ll find A Reluctant Hero by Jackie Weger, Creatus by Carmen DeSousa, The Neighbor by Dean Koontz, Three Junes by Julia Glass, One Way or Another by Elaine Raco Chase, Love Me Tender by Mimi Barbour…should I go on?
Ìý
What flavor is your writing style?
I always tell people I write cotton candy for the mind. Think back to when you were a kid and you took a bite of that delectable confection. What did you do? You smiled. That’s what I’m going for in my romance novels.
Ìý
Was writing always the first thing you wanted to do in life?
No, I wanted to be a teacher, but then I met and fell in love with my husband. We married and began raising a family. It wasn't until my children started school that I started writing.
Ìý
While you were writing, did you ever feel as if you were one of the characters?Ìý
I believe there’s a lot of me in my protagonists. I write about women who are strong, yet vulnerable. My main characters and my secondary characters have flaws and make mistakes (don’t we all?), but then most of them do all they can to learn, grow and become better people.
Ìý
Do you have any advice for other writers?
One piece of advice I often give to writers is to READ. Don’t just read in the genre in which you write. Read everything. And then figure out what you liked and what you didn't…and then think about why. Readingand analyzing the writing of talented people can help you perfect your own skills.
Ìý
Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?Ìý
I bow down to readers! I am so appreciative that they spend their hard-earned money on my books and then take the time to read my stories. I am so blessed to have a job I love, and I wouldn't have this job if there weren't readers who love romance novels.
Ìý
What inspired you to write your first book?Ìý
I came to writing through my love of reading. I spent many a Saturday as a kid in the local library. I loved books, but I never imagined I would ever write one. My husband gets the credit for my becoming a writer. When my children started school and I decided to find a part-time job, he looked around at the piles of romance novels in our home and said, “You've read a lot of those. Why don’t you try writing one? So, you see. It’s all his fault.
Ìý
If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?Ìý
Not my latest book, but one of my titles—Where’s Stanley?—features an ending that I didn't come up with. I handed in the completed manuscript, and my editor suggested a different ending. I wasn't happy, but I did as she asked. Personally, I think the book suffered for it, but readers seem to enjoy the story.
Ìý
What books have most influenced your life most?Ìý
Old Yeller, Sounder, The Bell Jar, To Kill a Mockingbird…how can people read these books and not be influenced? There are so many titles that inspired me and moved me, molded and shaped me, there isn't time to name them all. The characters in these wonderful books help young readers to decide what kind of individual they want to be.
Ìý
Do you ever experience writer's block?Ìý
There was a time when I’d have said no. I have a plant-your-butt-in-the-chair-and-the-words-will-come attitude. But I did suffer writer’s block while my dad was battling cancer. It’s difficult to write feel-good happily-ever-after when your beloved father is dying.
Ìý
Do you write an outline before every book you write?
I do, yes. I equate an outline with a road made; how do you know where you’re going if you don’t have a map? I might write the first chapter or two on the fly, but I always take the time to plan out where I want the story to go. Now that’s not to say that the characters are going to stay on the straight and narrow. They decide to veer off the highway every now and then, and that’s when I have to do a quick reroute.
Ìý
Have you ever disliked something you wrote?Ìý
I've never published anything that I disliked. I have started projects that haven’t seen the light of day, either because I couldn't figure out where to take the story, or I couldn't make the protagonist sympathetic or likable. It’s a rare occurrence, and when it happens, I just set the story aside and hope I can someday come up with a solution.
Ìý
Tell us why you’ve decided to set a series of book at a seashore location.
I love the ocean. There’s just something about a large body of water that induces a great calm in me. I think many people feel the same, so I decided to come up with a series that involves three women friends who live and work in Ocean City, Maryland. The first, Following His Heart, is Sara and Landon’s story. The second, Two Hearts in Winter, is Heather and Daniel’s story. I’m currently plotting out the third book of the series.Ìý

Some books take more out of an author than others. Maybe that makes it better? #mgtab

ÌýÌýÌý ÌýÌýThis book was so much fun to writeâ€ it almost wrote itself. You’ve heard me say that before â€ right? And in most cases, it’s true.
Well this time, that wasn’t the case. I beat my brain cells silly for these words to come to me. I think I was a bit burned out from writing so much in only a matter of a few months. I did the three Christmas novellas for the Holiday Heartwarmers Trilogy right after I finished Special Agent Maximilian. Then I took on another full-length book - the first in my new Mob Tracker series which I’m hoping to sell. Therefore it had to be better than good. I tingled all the time I wrote it so I believe it worked well Good Lord, I hope so.
But, I knew the readers were waiting for another Undercover FBI story they wrote and told me they were. And so I hurried to get this started.
And there I stayed spinning my wheels for a few days, I plotted like crazy and nothing gelled. It was all rolling around together in a congealed mess. Then all of a sudden, I woke up in the morning with the first scene. And I was off.
Of course, it’s been edited quite a bit but the essence is there. In my mind, I had visualized this - A sweet FBI Hostage Negotiator wanted to be taken seriously, to be tough like the others in her team but she was their pampered Barbie-doll
I hope you think it worked J Ìý

Chapter One:
“Smile at me one more time with those gleaming pearly-whites, and I’m liable to smash them down your throat. You got it? Special Agent Kandice Warner had just arrived at the FBI office and greeted her co-worker.
Some of the other staffers who’d been watching laughed. One clapped, and the agent Kandice had been directing her threat to gloomily shook his head. “Kandi, what’s with the compliment? And your eyes are friggin twinkling. You gotta look like you mean it. God-almighty, sweets, it wasn’t at all believable.
Hands on her hips, posing, Kandi grouched, “I practiced that for half an hour. What was wrong with it this time?
“Well, first of all, your eyes were soft, you got too damn close, and when you’re sarcastic to a perp, ya just don’t pat his arm.
Laughter rang out in the main room where a dozen or so others worked. Catcalls and whistles followed. One voice was louder and could be heard over the rest. “Kandi just doesn’t have the personality of a pit-bull, Wesley. She’s our sweetheart.
“Yeah, man, leave her alone. It’s bad enough that we’re a bunch of hardened agents. We like her just the way she is.
Wesley Snow, chubby with longish hair, glasses that never stayed up and a friendly disposition, snarled to the others, “Hell, this isn’t my idea. Kandi insists she needs to learn how to be scary, like the rest of us.
Horrified, Kandi jumped in. “I never said that, you goofball. I said I wanted the criminals to take me more seriously. Not to decide they can run when I have a gun pointed at them.
This brought more laughter and Kandi, not having the heart to continue with her snit, giggled with them.
“Give it up, sweetheart. We’ll look after you, same as we bin doin since forever. You’re like our mascot. Bobbi, her best friend, came over and wrapped her in a hug, her brown eyes softening and her darkish-coffee skin glowing with health and vitality. The warmth, the smell of her vanilla body lotion, even the ruffling she gave Kandi’s curls, should have given Kandi a soft feeling. And it did But the dissatisfaction still hovered and wouldn’t fade.
“I can’t let it go, Bobbi. They have to start believing I’m competent, or my credibility goes right out the window.
Bobbi nodded, her hand now holding one of Kandi’s. “Look, the reason that asshole ran away from you yesterday wasn’t because you didn’t scare him enough to follow orders. You were cool and said most of the words I would have used. The rest of her co-workers nodded.
“I did? Kandi knew they all considered Bobbi a level-headed agent who came off as being one not to mess with. Maybe this isn’t so bad after all.
“Hell, yeah. A male voice added.
“S’truth. Wesley nodded and joined in.
“Then why did he wink at me and run away?
“Cause you were smiling beseechingly, and you made one small mistake I never say, please stop.
Kandi lowered her head in disgust. “I did say that, didn’t I? He knew I’d never shoot him.
“Honey, no matter how good you were in training, or how thorough you are when it comes to talking these assholes down in a crisis negotiation, you don’t have the killer instinct.
“I guess you’re right. Kandi pushed her hands through her headful of blonde curls that bounced every which way, and grinned sadly. “I’m nothing but a wuss.
“Oh, no, honey. That’s not what I said. Why, we’ve watched you stand up to some of the meanest sons-a-bitches ever and you never back down. By the time you’re finished with the pricks, you have them following you like puppy-dogs, willing to do whatever you say. It’s uncanny. I wish I had your talent.
The rest of the room muttered various agreements, until their new boss entered and ended everyone’s fun.
Kandi watched the room settle down, busy agents now avidly working, typing and making phone calls. She caught Wesley’s wink before his head went down too.
This guy scared the stuffing out of all of them. He had the coldest disposition of anyone Kandi had ever met. His reputation preceded him, and the fact that he’d been demoted from his hoity-toity position in Washington, as the Assistant Director of the Criminal Investigative Division, to the lowly Seattle branch as an Assistant Special Agent in Charge must have been very demoralizing for the man whose gritty personality terrified them.
Not that anyone had the guts or the stupidity to bring it up when he’d arrived yesterday. Fred More, the SAC, had accompanied him into their office and made the introductions.
“I’m sure we were all sorry to see Neil Ware leave, but that old agent put in his time and deserved his retirement. So I’m pleased to introduce you to the man we’ve chosen to take his place, ASAC Dan Black.
Most of the team had been happy to see Neil leave for various reasons. Kandi had wished him well and a happy retirement, but the others were glad to have done with the snarky, exacting asshole. Now they had a different man to deal with. And he looked to be worse.
Standing next to his latest assistant, Fred had looked short, plain and insignificant. Prior to that, Kandi would have described the SAC as six feet tall, nice-looking and obviously in authority, but the new man had a way of overshadowing other males in his vicinity.
Though Fred had been somewhat ingratiating when he’d said his piece and hurried from the room, his final remark rang in the quiet. “Dan Black knows more than most of you put together so work hard for him, follow his instructions and make us proud.
Left alone with the dark-haired stunner, his expensive gray suit making every other man in the room look dowdy, Kandi’s colleagues had shuffled nervously.
Expecting the man to say a few words of greeting, make an effort to reach out to his people, Kandi, and everyone else, was robbed. As they were introduced, he shook their hands, studied each person for a few seconds. At the end of the introductions, he nodded and left them all standing there while he disappeared into his new office.
Uncomfortable, wondering why he’d stared at her the longest, Kandi mourned their old boss. Feeling mean, she wanted Neil to enjoy his retirement but, contradictorily, she also wished him back at work.
Dan Black’s eyes had been cold and uncompromising, digging into soft places she only shared with people she liked. And he certainly wasn’t one of them. Okay, she had no reason for this aversion she felt. In fact, he had her total deference as a co-worker, a boss she would be working for.
Was he familiar? Did he remind her of someone? She ignored her misgivings.
Of course, there had to be respect. But she’d hold off on her final verdict until she got to know him better. Added to that, when and if he ever stopped making her nervous, or leaving her trembling like a schoolgirl with a crush on the new boy in class, then and only then, would she decide to let him in.
Once he’d disappeared behind his glass walls, like everyone else, she’d gone to her own cubicle with its old-fashioned separators which only measured half-way to the ceiling. Head down, she began filling in some of the endless reports while she had the chance.
But before getting too involved, she leaned over the wall, saw Bobbi on the phone and mouthed “Lunch, and smiled when Bobbi empathically nodded. Then she sat back down and went to work.
In her job as the FBI’s only Crisis Negotiator in the area, one never knew when the next call would come. Thankfully, it had been a quiet morning and they’d gotten a lot done.
Because Bobbi got a callout about an ongoing case, they never did get their lunch together. Kandi just spent the day at her desk.
Her only complaint was that every time she looked up, her gaze automatically lifted forward and it was just her luck to be in Dan Black’s direct path. Utterly nerve-wracked to find his eyes on her each time, she smiled with her lips only and resumed work. It had been a long day.
***
Wesley, glasses halfway down his nose, broke into her reverie, “Kandi, we’re on. There’s a hostage situation at a downtown bank. Ten people are being held, two kids. Bobbi put her phone down and leapt to her feet. She went to Dan’s door and gave him a brief rundown, while the rest of the team grabbed their equipment and headed to the SWAT vehicles.
Kids! Blast it! Kandi hated seeing children involved in these types of crimes. Her heart filling with its usual soft squishiness, she sought her weapon and followed the group. The last person she expected to tag along was their cranky new boss.ÌýÌý

Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ #Giveaway- a smart step to take before you release your book! #mgtab

ÌýI’m getting excited because I’ll be releasing Special Agent Kandice in a few days â€ April 1st.You’d think that after all the books I’ve put out there, I would have gotten over this tense, giddy-stomach kinda feeling but I admit that â€ nope â€ it’s still there.
This is the point where I’m always a bit frazzled. Those of you who are Indie authors, well you know the never-ending chores needed to be done when you get to this point. I have this mental list that seems overpowering, and as I tick each thing off, I know there’s still a lot more prompting the book being the biggest hurdle to cross.
For instance, I decided with this book to give away a couple of paperbacks on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ. It will give the book exposure and hopefully bring attention to the fact that it’s the 4th in the series. So, being the pro that I am, and having done this before, though quite some time ago, I beetle my butt over to the Å·±¦ÓéÀÖâ€ Giveaway page and get totally stuck there.
First of all, I’ve never done this promo on a book not already released before. It makes a difference YEP!!
So after I filled in the form, they stopped me dead and kicked me out (metaphorically speaking). Their excuse was - using an invalid ISBN#. Well hell’s bells. How would they know it was invalid see my head was planted firmly up my…ahh ahem! Anyway, duh! It finally dawned on me after I broke down and wrote to a friend on a loop about the situation (darn) that if I hadn’t set the book up yet, of course the number would be invalid.
Plus, I couldn’t find any place to add the cover and well all the other ads had covers I wanted mine there too…right? So easy once I had the answer.
I did get one benefit from this little trip back down “newbie lane...
It means we can set our books up on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ before they’re released!! I forced open my inner data base and lodged that into the already over-extended brain that I keep feeding more stuff every day.
Steps to set up unpublished book on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ:
Go to your Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Dashboard
See - Add a book click and fill in form. (make sure where it says book format put paperback or when you try to list this book as a Giveaway it will kick your cute little petoodie right outta there (happened 3 times to me before I caught on…..ackkkk!!!)
Go to top of page and see browse and then click on Giveaways.
On right, see list a giveaway.
Fill in form with the same ISBN# you set up the book with or it will kick you out and you have to start all over again. Also, make sure you choose a start date at least 7 days in advance or again oh yeah!! It’ll kick you out. In fact, my strong suggestion is to keep a copy of the info for this form as you might have to use it over and over and over and..grrr!!
Now in case you wondered why I wrote this blog, it’s as much for me as it is for you. Next time I have to go through this procedure, I want step-by-step instructions so I don’t waste my whole afternoon :-))Here's the page of Giveaways as of today...of course Special Agent Kandice won't show up there for 7 days but at least, after my herculean efforts,Ìýit will appear!!
Next blog other things to do before releasing a new book.

Kindle Edition Normalized Page Count (KENP) - Have you succumbed yet? #mgtab #eNovAaw

I’ve read some great blogs on this subject and want to share this one with you.

Roger goes into great description to explain to you just how Amazon is pricing the KENP and it’s extremely interesting.
But I admit that what particularly caught my attention the most is how it will affect my own books. Lately, I’ve seen that many of my friends have chosen to go the route of Amazon Select and therefore in the Unlimited program with their books. It took me a while to make up my mind too. But in the end I succumbed to the temptation, added a few books and waited.
Sure enough, once they were promoted so folks knew about them, the books started getting read and the pages piled up.
So not being too stupid, I added a bunch more and saw them getting snapped up also. Since most of my books are not long reads, I thought it might work against me. My full-length ones come in at around the 55,000 65,000 word length. And calculating the number of pages in the old way of 250 words per page meant that I didn’t have a huge number of pages: 220 260 pages.
But after reading Roger’s blog, I realized that low page count wasn’t against me. He seems to think that Amazon’s Policing means more like 187 words per kindle page. That stoked my fire big time.
As you can see, with a book like Special Agent Maximilian which has 59,571 words divided by187 = 318 pages x 0.0057 = $1.81 is earned for every time the full book is read. Now that’s totally acceptable. (Hopefully AZ continues to pay around this amount each month.)
Roger also says that this is based on a 12pt text. Since I format all my work on Pressbooks, I’m sure that the word count is within the regulations but you might want to make sure you’re keeping within those guidelines if you’re publishing a word document - which is possible â€ just not advisable for anyone to be doing nowadays.Ìý
Soâ€ I’m beginning to see that Amazon has won me over again. If my books get read, I’m happy. If I get paid, I’m even happier. And if folks out there in the world get to read as many books as they want for one low monthly price, then I guess they’re also happyâ€ that’s just the way of the world. Ìý ***Therefore - those of you who have joined the unlimited program, and are paying your $9.99 per month, please do check out my books. My author page is and while you're visiting, do me the honor of "Following" me so Amazon will continue to let you know when my next books are released. Ìý
