Early in the morning I rise
Bringing the message that this is a new day
My duty is to shine brightly
To show the world that I am an African
A proud African

They call my continent “dark�
I wonder how this can be
A continent that’s home to Mandela, Weah, Tutu and others
A place I call home
Can never be the “dark continent�

Wherever I go I shine
Like the African sun I shi
