That's what we see the most of in his thoughts.
There aren't any references to suicide or self harming. There are a couple of bullying scenes (which the main character brushes off, mostly its just insults), and a predatory behaviour scene (not rape though).
I think the book deals with these issues very well and it's worth a read, not problematic at all. Besides, the story is beautiful. Hope this was useful!(less)
