I recently finished reading "Overcoming Anxious Attachment". and it’s been a powerful experience that has taught me A LOT about myself. This book breaks down the concept of anxious attachment and provides an understanding of how our early relationships shape our adult connections.

My favorite part was the section on healing your inner child, where I learned to acknowledge and nurture the part of me that feels insecure and unloved. I've learned over the years that there is no other person in this world who can fill that void for me, that I have to learn to feel loved and secure on my own, that cannot be dependent on someone else. The exercises helped me reflect on my past experiences, moving from feeling overwhelmed to a place of understanding and compassion for myself. It was eye-opening to see how my childhood experiences influenced my relationship patterns today.

I appreciated the simplicity of the three-step plan that the book outlines, making it easy to follow along and implement the ideas in my daily life. It really highlighted the importance of self-awareness and self-care in building healthier relationships.

Overall, I found this book to be relatable and insightful, making it a valuable read for anyone looking to navigate their attachment style and foster stronger connections. I feel like I’m on the right path towards emotional freedom and more fulfilling relationships free of depending on the other person to feel as if I have self worth.

The good thing about this book is that it shares examples of success stories. It provides examples of strategies and tried and tested ways of overcoming the difficulties. It comes from a perspective of hope and experience. These accounts, without summarising them, provide inspiration to the reader that anything is achievable. It outlines the way in which inconsistent parenting help generate low self esteem and how through healthy self-evaluation and reflection you as an adult can overcome :).

Dealing with this for a big portion of my life and than reading this book has helped me put things into perspective. Gives me a lot to think about. Really makes me dig deeper into myself and what causes my attachment and anxiety that goes with it. I love self help books and Cher Hampton is definitely a favorite author for me. After reading this book I feel that it explains attachment very well.
I think the fact that self care and understanding of this is so important before and after you find yourself again.
The inner child is so interesting and vital as well as the help in managing anxiety.
The book takes you through finding yourself but I feel that time is needed for this , time to grieve, accept and then move forward, the book helps with this .
I shall be keeping this book close at hand whilst I work my way through this journey.
Thankyou .

I really enjoyed the book, because the author explained the different attachment styles and other concepts in an easy and understandable manner. Besides the theoretical background the author provides there are structured steps to take to better manage one’s attachment style and gain a deeper understanding of one’s own physiological and psychological reactions. This book gives you a well-rounded view on the things you can do to improve yourself not only to be a better partner but ultimately to be a better caretaker of yourself.
