Since 1997 Karl has run several self help websites about self esteem and depression.
He wrote his first book, now a best-seller, in 2009 “Self Esteem Secrets and sold thousands of copies from his website after self publishing the book. In 2014 this book was published by Motivational Press.
This is a clear, easy read that doesn't bog its audience down with unneeded detail. Instead the book offers a step by step guide to what self-esteem is, why it is important, and a helping hand in thinking about what it means to the reader as an individual.
I particularly liked the short written exercises as they helped to sort my thoughts, without feeling like a daunting - time-consuming - exercise as was the case with some self-help books I've read in the past. By the end I felt more motivated and, more importantly, that I could put some changes into place.
Another reviewer commented on the website links, but I didn't find them overly intrusive. They are presented along the lines of, 'if you want to do more on this section, check out the website, otherwise move on to the next section'.
I am an avid reader of personal development books. While there are quite a some things in the book for which I already have some knowledge. Karl was able to introduced a handful of new perspective which I can add to my growing list of insights to further build my self esteem. This book is for you if you are experiencing challenges in relationships, work and life in general and looking for a guide to build your personal foundation for success. There are some great exercises to help you along the way and increase the benefits gained from this book.
2 stars for effort, but the "Don't feel bad about yourself, visit my website to find out how!" that punctuated the end of nearly every section... or "How do you gain self-confidence? Why! Take my self-confidence course for free, online today! Visit my website!" was just tiring and silly.
