This is Nonfiction. I liked this one. I read it for a reading challenge so I wasn't really expecting to glean anything new but I was pleasanlty surprised. He had many good ideas on how to become a better and more gracious speaker. I'll have to read this one again the next time I have to speak to a crowd. So 4 stars.

A perfect guide not only for public speaking, but also for any kind of business talk whether it is a meeting, sales presentation or just a small conversation.
"The more you like yourself, the more optimistic and confident you are. The more you like yourself, the more positive & personable you are in your relationships with others. The more you like yourself the healthier and happier and more positive you become in everything you do"
Speak to Win How to Present with Power in Any Situation by Brian Tracy
If you're good at giving speeches and able to articulate your points you're more likely to progress up the slippery pole of career progression. Brian Tracy outlines several crucial points to perform a good presentation. If you want to perform an awesome presentation then I highly recommend this book.
The one point he stresses throughout is practice, having several dry runs including pronouncing out loud is very important. Make sure to get the time correct, know your audience in desail, not just the demographics but what they want to obtain from the presentation. Make reference or acknowledge any recent pertinent events that have happened locally.
When you present hold your hands forward smile and keep an upright body posture. Book mentions the importance of dressing up for the occasion (as opposed to dressing down). Interesting method to overcome overthinking and being nervous about the crowd think of you, they are on your side. Suggests the audience are behind you and want a good presentation that's useful. Similar to a cinema, they don't go hoping to see a bad film!
Contains tips about interacting in smaller meetings, for example if there's somebody who opposes your view rather than having them sit opposite you instead sit close to them by your side so that you don't feel unnecessarily antagonistic towards each other.
When ending the speech it's important to do so powerfully. Often the format of a speech is: this is what I'm going to tell you, this is what I am telling you and this is what I told you. When finished stand up and stay still, when somebody starts clapping look at them smile and say thank you to this person. Keep doing this to others who clap, if somebody starts to give a standing clap keep doing the same to encourages others to obtain a standing ovation.
Consider changing statements to questions such as do you know how many .... this does per minute? Then say the answer. This technique can bring people's attention to the fact. Of course remember to vary the speed of your voice and tone accordingly to add impact.
Has a nice story about two people pulling a (dead) deer by the tail. A helpful farmer then tells them to pull up by its horns, this that is easier but they then realise they're pulling in the wrong direction! The main point is not to just do the easy thing but do the thing you need to do most efficiently heading in the right direction!
There is no doubt that public speaking is one of the biggest challenges an ordinary person can face at a point of time in his life. Therefore, it is compulsory that we must strive to overcome our fear and improve our talking skills.
This book is no doubt another masterpiece of Brian Tracy. He not only shares various different skills but also gives a clear-cut blueprint about any kind of speech.
It is recommended to all those people who are aspiring to become good speakers or those students who have present any topic in their presentation.
There is a lot of repitition in the book but the final chapter was awesome.
The book from the beginning, starts to build confidence little by little and by the end make you a good presenter ( at least in your mind ). It highlights the pain, problem, need and the goal of picking up this book. Then, builds upon real life examples from the authors life, highlights tips and techniques to improve your speaking/ presentation skills.
5 stars to the author to demonstrate a working example of his approach, by writing this book.
However, I remain skeptical about the few of author's proposals, whether the things he mentioned works. Trying out the same to get a practical idea.
Brian Tracy's chapter on speaking / presenting to small groups is useful. Elsewhere in the book he repeatedly admonishes that "hotels lie [about room setup, a/c, etc.]". I think that his message begins to get lost as he pursues his personal agenda against hotels.
I listened to the unabridged version read by the author which is a good length for a non-fiction audiobook and an easy listen ... if you don't mind his railing on about hotels.
Great book. It lays out effective and actionable techniques that can be used while preparing and delivering presentations. I love how Brian emphasizes that "Excellent Speaking is Learnable", "Every master was once a disaster", "The Only Limit Is You", "Like watching a movie as an example" that helps motivates new speakers or people struggling on public speaking. It helps me realize that the only way to be better at speaking is just to Speak, Speak, Speak, Speak and Speak.
A fine collection of proven points and anecdotes that can jump start the road to a glorious career in public speaking or any other field by using the knowledge in meetings, etc. Recommended to those who need tips on how to improve their speaking skills in meetings, public speeches and in sales.
Probably one of the best books I've read about public speaking. He actually gives tips and advice that are useful. I'll read it again and take better notes.
If you want to be a good speaker, you should learn from the best. Brian Tracy is one of the most renowned speakers in the world. This books authored by him told you how to be a good speaker.
I am giving it 3 out of 5 because the man really pours out golden straightforward ideas and practices that helps in public speaking and few touches and sales and marketing since both topics are mutually exclusive.
One point I didn't like about the book:
- It seems quite horrendously repetitive to a point you think that the writer hasn't revised the book prior publishing it.
- Many of the practices seem to have been quoted from other books like Dale carnegie.
However at most the books is quite easy read and offers many techniques and word of advise on handling different situations from the point you reached to give a speech to the point where you ask the people on your performance.
I would definitely advise to read it.

I loved this audio program! So many useful tips, and I could really hear how intentional Brian's approach is to speaking. I took tons of notes and have many follow-ups, including:
The memory strategies for planning and remembering your talking points The strategies for relaxing when public speaking (wiggling your toes!) How he gives the WHY behind effective tips His emphasis on building likability as a persuasion and influence tactic (his public persona is so masterful at this) Psychology mechanisms to have the audience react the way you want them to. e.g. ‘once upon a time - regresses the audience to a childlike mental state, or ‘I’ve got some good news’ basically a sales pitch of what’s in it for you (the audience) to excite them, inspire them, motivate them, and keep them listening. Super interesting techniques.
This book gave great tools to speak to gain respect and present to groups. He discussed what make a great speaker and what does not. There were many great ideas and speaking styles discussed. I found it very enlightening and educational. I listened to this on audio, and I could hear the pages being turned as he spoke. It was very distracting and it took away for what he was saying. Editing did not do their job on this audio book.
The book is all about how to make a good Presentation. Things to be prepare: - Content of the speech. It must have a clear purpose and strong message - Practice, practice, practice - Come early to double check Audio, Temperature, Seating... - A surprising opening as well as a memorable ending ...
The problem is how repetitive the info is. Chapter 7 and 9 are just summaries and paraphrases of previous chapters.
