i like this answer. even though it might not be true it makes sense. by puting our own spin on the ideas presented we are actively interacting with the artwork
I like this answer, too. I find it strange that most of the folks I know who recognize references to this series, like me, are all in IT. I also think that the folks who recognize the "42" references are more likely to have read the books than just watched the movie(s).
