So strange it's always the other way around. Maybe because there is 8 books and they will only make 4 seasons...
It's rare, but it does happen sometimes. For example, I prefer The Princess Bride movie to the book, and think that the novelisation of Fantastic Voyage is better than the movie it is based on; but these are exceptions.
