[close] We discuss English books written by Indian and International Authors. This space is open to readers as well as authors to speak about the books they love and the books they write. Aspiring Authors feel free to join in and bibliophiles feel free to discuss your favourite books.

[close] SOLVE THE CRIME Would you like to add intrigue to your book group? Planning to start a new one? Chiswick Detectives Group regularly get together to review their chosen book. But here’s the difference. Choosing a crime novel the group then ask a non-group friend to read it and then tell them at what page they need to stop before they find out whodunit! The group then all read up to that page, taking note of clues such as motive pointers, red herrings, misdirections, etc. They then get together for some good food and drink and then they try and solve the crime. Different theories such as power, revenge, money or sexual jealousy are vigorously championed. It’s a satisfying and pleasurable way of spending an evening. If the stopping point is very near the end of the book, they read it out loud at the end of the evening to see who was right. If not, they all read it separately at home and email each other saying, "you were right," or "I was right" or "our ending was better." To mark the launch of the McNidder & Grace Crime Book imprint we will be giving away one each of five crime novels, signed by the author, to the first book group who can answer the following question: The 1959 Penguin jacket blurb for Margery Allingham’s Death of a Ghost gives the wrong Christian name for the first murder victim. What is that name? Available to all book groups on request: Instead of a friend telling the group at what page to stop reading McNidder & Grace’s five authors will tell the group where to stop. Two tried and tested recipes from the Chiswick Detectives Group to help the evening be even more enjoyable.
