[close] NOBLEBRIGHT "Noblebright fantasy has at least one important character with noble, idealistic motives who does the right thing out of principle. The character is flawed, but his or her actions are generally defined by honesty, integrity, sacrifice, love, and kindness. The story upholds the goodness of the character; the character’s good qualities are not held up as naiveté, cluelessness, or stupidity, but rather shown to be worthwhile. Good characters can make a difference. Noblebright characters can learn and grow. They can deliberately choose to be kind when tempted to be unkind, they can choose generosity when it hurts, and they can influence their world and other characters for the better. In a noblebright story, even villains are not without hope; their stories may have a redemptive ending, or they may have some kind of conversion experience (religious or not). It’s not guaranteed, of course, but in a noblebright story, it’s a possibility. Noblebright fantasy is not utopian fiction. The world of a noblebright story is not perfect, and indeed can sometimes be quite dark. Actions have consequences, and even good characters can make terrible mistakes. [close] ⠀⠀ Greetings, Luxians and Lunatics alike. Welcome to Neon Cogs in the Fog. Otherwise and formally known as Out of Lux, which is a crafty play on words that took your moderators far too long to devise. This is a group that is entirely original and new—a concept conceived through hard work and sleepless nights, mind you—but simple enough to understand with some easy-on-the-eyes reading accompanied by world-class aesthetics. On a quaint little moon called Lux orbiting a planet called Lantas orbiting a star called Luminos—truly, can’t you see why it took your moderators seven and a half light years to ponder this world-building?—there are two cities: Asterath, a cavernous underground city, filled with neon lights and wild magic, and Voxthain, the city above it, with clockwork creations and floating dirigibles. Of course, as the world-building geniuses we are, this is not all there is to our little moon or its cities. Across the globe, on the continent of Faerûn, the land is overrun with shadows, consuming all magic it can find. A band of heroes (or Lunatics, according to Rory) from the country of Runalithe have set off on a quest to steal the magic from Asterath and Voxthian to save their home. There’s the plot, go wild.
