Hmmmm....book...how to rate you how to rate you...Okay I think I have my thoughts gathered...ish!!! Let's give this one 3.8 stars!!! This is a love/dislike relationship for me! I see the appeal of this book and why so many people are raving about it! I too was engrossed by some of the passages. The romance is it was quite sweet and endearing. I have seen so many positive reviews on this book, but I wasn't sure if the story would interest me enough. I found a signed copy with the fan art at the bookstore and I had to have it! I LOVED the time period of this book, the Nebraska setting, and the sweet love story and awesome characters. The period references and the dialogue were fantastic--and I loved the alternating POV鈥檚. I guess I鈥檓 a nerd at heart, since I adored the comic book, Watchmen, and alternative music references, as well as the humorous, quirky conversations. I鈥檝e thought a lot about this book since I finished it. I really liked it, but I didn鈥檛 think it was as good as ATTACHMENTS by the same author. And, I I LOVED the time period of this book, the Nebraska setting, and the sweet love story and awesome characters. And, I do have to give an upfront warning that this book has a lot of crude and mature language/swearing! It鈥檚 definitely a book for older teens or adults. That said, overall I really enjoyed the story, despite the harsher language, but I would have been much happier with less of it :(

I LOVED Park!! He鈥檚 so sweet and awesome! I loved his mixed tapes, his comic book lending, his open heart, his faith in love, his optimism and steadfastness. I adored the fight--it was sweet, protective, awesome, and funny! LOVE Park!! Eleanor was more cautious and wary. Honestly, she bugged me quite a bit and, though I did understand her horrible family situation, I just hated how (view spoiler), though I wish we鈥檇 had MUCH MORE than that at the end--it was way too abrupt and rather unsatisfying to me :( But, I did love their sweet romance and how they complemented, protected, loved, and uplifted each other--I loved the growth of Park and Eleanor over the course of the book and throughout their relationship.

I loved the depth of all of the characters in this book--that they were multi-dimensional and we got to know many of them very well, even minor characters like Park鈥檚 parents, Steve, Tina, and Eleanor鈥檚 gym friends. All the little details and quirks with these characters really made the book rich and wonderful!

Overall, this is a really great read and I鈥檇 recommend it! I had a hard time putting it down, to be honest, and I was really enthralled by the story. I had no idea how it would all turn out and I liked the building tension as the story progressed. I had some moments of real concern about the fate of the characters and worry for their well-being--particularly as the book got closer to the ending. But, as I mentioned, this book is NOT for you if harsher language bothers you. There鈥檚 not much in the way of sexual content, besides some crude/suggestive language, a conversation or two, and a bit of slightly steamy making out.
