4.5/5 This one really surprised me with all of the interesting points made around race and racism- mainly who should have to apologize and for what. I'd highly recommend this for a book club where different aspects of the novel could be discussed in more depth.

This was a stressful book, but there was enough joy to keep it from being painful. You can read the blurb to know what happens, but it’s the other relationships I really loved. His kids and his coworkers were nicely balancing the other stuff going on in his life, but my favorite relationships were his friend from his past and his wife. Almost put it down after a chapter but glad I kept going. Race and bias is so nuanced, I love when a book can capture all the nebulosity
