So many things to enjoy about this book. I loved learning about video games and their creation. Zevin’s writing is so good—allusions, characters, friendships, interesting narrative styles. The second half of the book, in LA, slowed down and I was sad about the miscommunications in Sadie’s and Sam’s lives. But real life, nonetheless.

4.5.

This was a beautiful exploration of friendship and the creative process between friends and how complicated that can be. And women, minorities, and disability in gaming. Some gut punches along the way. Loved this, even if it meandered now and then.
