Read for Nerdette book club and glad I did!

Olga has a big Puerto Rican family, including a radical mother who skipped town when Olga was a teen, and has been influencing her life ever since. I loved reading about Olga's life, her relationships and her family, the good the bad and the ugly. ...more

I did enjoy the story, but I felt it was more long winded and ended up a bit more character focused than I usually prefer in my novels. I loved the descriptions of Puerto Rico and envisioning the future that came from situations described. The characters were unique and the trauma they experienced was well written throughout (not glossed over for plots sake).
